I think it’s a mistake having the Hollywood Studios excursion smack in the middle of your cruise. Wouldn’t it be cool if it was an after hours event instead, exclusively for the Star Wars hotel guests? Just have that section of the park only open to them…food, rides, light saber & droid building…I think that would be worth a hefty price tag. Either on the first night or last night of the stay. Or if they really had to keep it in the middle of your stay = they could do an Early Morning Magic instead. Let those guests come before park officially opens and enjoy everything before the “earth tourists get there”.

I went in May and I agree completely. I think a trip on the first night from 11 - 1AM. Close GE to general public at 11 and shuttles board at that time. They might need extra shuttle/s because there will be a compressed boarding times. For security, they might need to rope off certain areas, but allow access to Oga's. There could be torches along the route to the cantina, which stays open until 1 AM. They might have a little dancing inside the bar since it will be less crowded than during the day. This would be a huge add-on experience; the chance to be in the Park with few people. I expect the Disney people considered this. So, there might be some logistical/security hurdle which prevents it.

There are TONS of articles on how WDW ticket prices now costs X% of a household income blah blah blah. WDW is pricing out families and only for the rich. And yet, the parks are full and the wait times are insanely long. Clearly there will be enough demand for this. Its 100 rooms, not 3,000.

They will have to "cycle" the plot every so often as there is no reason for someone to ever come back. Two of their biggest mistakes? Basing this on the sequels and having it aboard a "ship". The hotel should have been a hub, like Mos Eisley and you could "travel" to different areas (and not in a box truck, lol) and follow the path of a Rebel or Imperial. Saber training on Dagobah or the Emperor's throne room, drinks at the original creature cantina, rooms that look like they belong on Cloud City or the Death Star, so many possibilities.

From everything you've said and I've seen, it's Star Wars LARPing meets immersive theater a la Sleep No More, which is absolutely everything I'm about. It's essentially impossible to see everything in one go, you and your companions may have completely separate stories to swap at the end, and any guest not fully committing to the bit doesn't pull you out of the experience but simply fades into the background noise. This sounds seriously incredible.

I went in May and you are dead-on. There are many storylines running at the same time. My friend and I were together most of the time, but we got a few separate invites. You will DEFINITELY not see/do everything on one visit. I was exhausted just doing the missions that I had. Some people were disappointed they didn't see Yoda or get Force training. But as the bartender told me, "It's like life. You don't know everything that's going on." My favorite moment: I wandered down to the Cargo Hold to take some pictures. I was by myself. After standing there a minute, the door opened and Rey ran in, wielding a light saber. She said to me, "Don't tell anyone I was here," and then raced out the other door. To this day, I don't know how this happened. Was there a camera that informed them I was there? Was she just running around and I happened to be there? Who knows?

You would 100% not fully enjoy this experience unless you dress up like your own character you want to portray during these two days and then from the moment you get there, you must throw yourself into the story and immersion. Molly did this, and as you can see from her video, she truly enjoyed it from start to finish. I have seen other videos where the people were more interested in nitpicking what was wrong, and they were horrible to watch. Molly is just the best at what she does and thats tell it like it is about Disney and Universal. With that said, this experience is nowhere near justified the $6k price tag. I work in the luxury experience industry and wealthy people would not pay for the quality of room nor the level of food served. Also for the price, the amenities are bare bones, no specialty offerings, swag (costumes, etc), or special experience at the park (you’re thrown in Batuu with the rest of the Disney guests in the middle of the day) are included in this premium price tag. As much as wealthy people probably have expendable income, they don’t just frivolously spend on things that don’t hold up to the standards and value they are used to.

Look, I love Molly. I enjoy her videos. I come back to this channel over and over again because her level of knowledge of all things Disney is second to no one. I truly think Molly believes she is unbiased. Yes, I will agree I’ve seen Molly criticize some aspects of the Disney parks. But, Molly is the Rah Rah Disney type. I mean, she cries over a fireworks show. So, I’m happy Molly enjoyed the Gallactic Starcruiser. I think fellow Rah Rah Disney types will love this experience. But, Molly was destined to love it. Look, when Galaxy’s Edge opened, Molly knew nothing about Star Wars. It wasn’t her franchise. But now you expect me to buy that she got so caught up in the experience that she cried when a Holochron revealed a hologram of Yoda? That’s Rah Rah Disney. Don’t get me wrong, it’s why I love watching Molly’s videos. But it is also why I take everything she says about the Galactic Cruiser with a grain of salt. As someone who likes the cosplay and interacting with themed events like ClueApp or True Dungeon, I'd argue that this roleplay experience still isn't worth heaping on the price tag (even if you added the other "perks" with it) because even if you end up being on a different story path than your family - you all end up in the same place. In True Dungeon, you can decide your own fate and go down a path in a huge storyline depending on what you do so your experience will never be the same with other parties involved. You can decide to go for good/evil or even neutral but in the Starcruiser - while you can feel like you can go either path, it's going to end with the good guys winning everytime. So, that kinda chucks any desire to have repeat visits and it doesn't really give you that "personalized" journey that it's saying you do. You're literally playing Star Wars themed D&D in person except with 10+ other parties.

I think in the end, this structure just isn't for me. I am very introverted and all these interactions, etc was anxiety inducing just watching. Now, maybe I would love it, but that $6k gamble is a tough one to make. ...... I really hope, in time, they offer like a day trip option for people that truly want to experience the ship, but for whom a 2 day interactive theater is not the right experience

Well done, Molly. I agree that you can LOVE Disney and still struggle with the price of this excursion and so many other things around the parks.

Amazingly thorough content as always! Thanks for sharing! You answered a lot of questions I was wondering about. It looks like most people had a lot of fun and I’m so glad you did! Since you’re a Harry Potter fan like I am, did you notice the part where the captain talked about waking a sleeping loth cat? That really took me out of the story (that I saw unfolding in the vlogs) since it reminded me of the Hogwarts crest saying haha. I thought that was really odd. Overall, I’m pleasantly surprised it looks like Disney pulled off what they wanted to do. Good for them. I hope that the project is a success and that they spin off some of the experiences into an expansion of Galaxy’s Edge or a whole new actual hotel.

I think cast members were putting in a lot of Easter eggs whenever they could. I heard the Captain sneak in "engage" while talking about flying the ship (Star Trek reference).

The reason there are Easter eggs all over Galaxy's Edge is because all the action now behind a paywall was supposed to be included in the park. As a Star Wars fan I still don't think it is worth price whether you can afford it or not.

What surprises me the most is that Disney isn't willing to give you ANYTHING for the "cruise". I mean, most cruise lines and other events offer you a swag bag or something of the sorts, yet the Starcruiser doesn't even offer you a postcard, a pen, a bag, a shirt that says "Chandrila Star Line", just nothing. When I heard about the activity where you build a miniature model of the Halcyon, I was surprised that you have to pay for the model kit, something that's usually $20.

Some things I'm curious about: What is the square footage of the rooms compared to a room on a normal cruise ship, a Disney cruise ship or a normal-sized Disney resort room? What was the crowd size in attendance for the media event? Was it at full capacity?

Small, and as much as they can pack into the place! $$$!

Here’s my thought wait 6 months until there is staff turnover with the new staff not as well trained and the current staff get over the newness and excitement and aren’t as into the job, it will not be as good as what Molly experienced.

The only way I would pay $6000 to stay at the Galactic Starcruiser is if Molly was included with the room....beautiful, funny, AND purple hair, the total package. She would make sitting through a 12 hour insurance seminar enjoyable...

Any idea how cast member shifts run? I can't imagine they switch the characters out during a cruise considering the amount of interaction there is. Do you think it is one cruise on, one cruise off? Do they sleep on board?
@HerHollyness2 жыл бұрын
I’d imagine they do one on, one off for the actors. Food and beverage maybe just work shifts like normal with one cruise off every now and then because they’re not ‘on’ the whole time. I noticed the acting cast at the media cruise were all different to those at the first paid cruise. Who knows though? Good question.

I have to say by far your review has been the most sincere and open minded I’ve seen. Do you get easy access like Lightning lane to ROR and Smugglers Run at Galaxy Edge as a guest of the Halcyon?

Appreciate the review, Molly! My boyfriend I and I came to the same conclusion - we would only ever come here if we won the lottery 😂 I am wondering what the chances are that this becomes a regular hotel in the future and all the immersive stuff is stripped away? Would more than likely stay in this hotel if you were just paying for it as if it were a hotel and not an immersive experience.
@Riceball012 жыл бұрын
It would probably very expensive to do. They'd have to do extensive remodelling and rennovations, starting with making the rooms large. Then they'd have to stip out the immersion stuff like the bridge, light saber training, etc and convert all of ths space for use as something else. They'd probably also need to make space for a parking lot since the only cars that are going to be there right now are those of the cast memberrs. And they'd also have to dig up a good chunk of the outside to add a pool ince no high end hotel is not going to have a a large pool area for their guest. And installing one after the fact won't be cheap or easy.
@spinhero2 жыл бұрын
Unlikely, the immersive portion is pretty much the foundation of the whole experience I think. I too wish this was just a -better themed- hotel with more alien crew/passengers that won't necessarily have to be "asking for help" in order for the story to advance, and for all areas of the ship to be accessible regardless whether I select the "right" answer on the app in my phone :/

Molly, I always love your information, your style and yes you look beautiful today! However, when you say Disney does not tell you what to say or that you have to be positive. I have watched so many vloggers who were not invited to the galactic starcruiser show screen shots of Disney correcting their hash tags or comments when things said were not positive. I just want honesty before I spend 6000 dollars. Please tell me why some vlogs say they were personally told they had to positive and you are saying that's not true? Thanks Molly!
@kidamere24082 жыл бұрын
yeah they say they are not compensated, but yet get a free 6k trip to this hotel; i would say you were pretty well compensated.

When you’re not paying a huge amount of money it’s easier to be more lenient about the experience. We’ll just need to wait and see how the general public feels

Disney uses such cheap mattress but charge so much for the hotels. I stayed in the old key west in December and the beds felt like motel mattress. are all disney resorts like this? Your average hotel off the highway has better mattresses loll.

Thanks for the honest review. No mention of the infamous Bingo Game that another KZbinr has reported on, so maybe it's fictitious? You're spot on about the price, as with so much in life, a thing is only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it, that factor will determine whether or not this Hotel is still open in a year or two.

As someone who leans towards being an introvert, I can say that when I do things like dungeons and Dragons and other role-playing games I am quite the opposite because I am no longer me for a moment. Hopefully other introverts can step into a character and step outside of themselves and take full immersion into this experience.
