Beautiful! I didn't realise this was painted on aluminium when I watched the live stream.

It's a completely different surface in person, of course I choose something that's so difficult to film to paint on 🤣

Beautiful work Liz! I haven’t been able to catch the lives, but I’m still watching the recordings. I really enjoyed the speed poses you did too! We are watching things play out over there and in Canada. There’s a lot of chaos over here in the states too. Stay strong girl, we’re going to get through this. And congratulations!

That was wonderful to watch and hear your process doing this painting. It really looks lovely hanging in the Kennedy Prize show. I am in my late 60s and just started painting in the last several years. Started learning oil painting last year and I'm loving it. I have so much to learn, but listening to your thoughts on this was helpful! I look forward to seeing more of your work!

Thankyou so much for your lovely comments Janina! I really appreciate reading them ❤️ I missed being able to do videos more frequently but as my little 1 year old grows up I know I'll get back in the swing of editing more soon!

@Liz Gridley - Artist Totally my pleasure. They grow up so fast, so it's good to take the time with them while they're young. You won't regret it. We'll still be here when you have more time for videos, and in the meantime, as a new subscriber, there's lots of content for me to catch up on and be inspired by! Happy mothering!👼💖

Thankyou so much! When I want to use the mirror effect of the bare aluminium I go to a metal worker and get a 'conversion coating applied' I highly suggest reading the painting on metals articles on JustPaint.org ❤️

Hi Liz absolutely fabulous art work I love watching your process …..can I ask what you primed the aluminium with….Ive only used it once and painted straight onto it , which was a strange experience lol
@LizGridleyArtist Жыл бұрын
I follow the advice of Justpaint.org (run by golden paints) who say if you want to retain the silver finish to get it chemically treated with a 'conversion coating' - there's a treatment business near me 👍 they have advice on other priming methods too

for your highlights you said you put down a glaze, are you using a paint medium to thin your paint? And what a stunning painting. The hand threw the cloth looks so good.
@LizGridleyArtist2 жыл бұрын
Yes I used liquin fine detail as a medium in this piece ❤️

hello liz, i was just wondering if you’d be able to assist me with a study i’m doing about your artwork! i have just had spinal fusion and have taken a while off school but i picked you because your art really speaks to me with the whole body image part of it, as obviously now i have a huge scar. please let me know if you would be willing!! thank you xxxx

Send me a dm on Instagram with more about what you're doing! Just need to work chatting/messaging around everything else and that should be fine 😊 thanks for asking so politely

I love your art so much. i wish i could do a paint a long to this. But I am absolutly not good enough to paint her, i’ve never Done s realistic portrait before. I wish you would do a tutorial Where you speak about What you are thinking when you are doing it, so we could understand and learn How to think. I personally would need a more in depth detailed tutorial about How to think when doing realistic portraits so i can use it Whatever i am painting. And i need some advice n How to make it look realistic. If you want to do that on your next painting i would be so happy. I would even subscribe if you made a patreon. I know you can teach me wo much. I am in Aw of your work! You have made one of my ABSOLUTE favorite paintings 😍🤩 (the woman on the cloud. It is stuck with me, lol, i love it so much. I would pay to have a indept tutorial about that. The way you paint the clouds, and the way her skin looks, How perfect her face is. How its so perfectly realistic without LOOSING the magic of being a painting and not photo. :) you are so awesome Liz hanks for showing your process with the tests, i am going to try that!!

Oh my gosh thankyou so much for your thoughts! I would definetly recommend if you see me in Livestream to come in and ask - whilst I'm painting I'm not always 100% present in what I'm wanting for the party in working on, it's hard to think after I'm finished to remember where my mind was at - but I'm the moment I'm always happy to chat about whatever's in my head 😂 I'm working on a glazing video with Cobra Water-Mixable oils at the moment (mainly pink) but I'm hoping that will help with a few techniques so keep an eye out, should be up this weekend 💕
