In this unique world of the 2020 pandemic, BYU Singers are thrilled to be singing together again. This semester has been dramatically altered, with the first month totally Zoom lectures from guests, as well as a bit of Zoom singing. The choir began meeting in person only last week. This video was made in accordance with all the current safety rules, with everyone wearing masks and the singers spread throughout the rows of the Madsen Recital Hall.

There is No End to the power of music. One day Covid will be behind us--then "We shall see and we shall know." These hard times have helped me to see how healing music can be, and I know firsthand the peace it brings. I look forward to the added light and truth that will come at the end of this tunnel, when "We shall rest." Until then, I'll shout alleluia for the joy that's coming!

One aspect of the pandemic that has amazed me is how people working together are finding solutions to continue making music. When the semester started, I was not sure whether we would have any "in-person" BYU Singers rehearsals at all. But I watched directors, office staff, choir leaders, and others work tirelessly to make our semester possible, and now it is happening. I truly believe that musicians the world around will continue to develop creative, meaningful ways to share good in our troubled world, regardless of the pandemic. As I've learned to focus on the lessons of this time, to see the good in all people, and to find the "Alleluia" moments of joy in each day, I've developed great confidence that the musical world and the world as a whole will be better and stronger as we work together to conquer the pandemic's unique challenges!

There is a massive hole in my heart as it is still unsafe to sing publicly where I am. I miss Singers every day and this heightens that, but what a blessing to hear the making of beautiful music despite the challenges the world is facing! I'm filled with hope that we can all sing again sooner rather than later.

It’s hard to express in words how this song affected me. So beautiful, vibrant, hopeful, spiritual. So wonderful to see people able to sing together in the same room! The video music/choir collaborations I’ve seen online the past few months are great! But singing live, together, same room - nothing is better! (I attended a few concerts in Madsen Recital Hall in my years at BYU, and I sure would’ve LOVED to have been there for this!)

I listen to this again and again since first hearing about a month ago,,around. Christmas. Great choral writing by the inimitable Elaine Hagenberg. I am so looking forward to receiving my choral copies of this and several of her other compositions. Kudos to thw BYU choral group and their director, Dr. Crane! I am inspired by your beauty and sincerity of your singing. Thank you many times over! Martha Murphy, a Florida State music school grad, 1964 and Northwestern Music school alum, class of 1972. We have not tried to do any virtual pieces in the BYU choirs---the sizes of the larger choirs were adjusted down, and sometimes then split in two for rehearsals so that singing and recording and performing can still be done in person, but with all COVID safety requirements in place. Good luck with your experience!
