The coolest first hair cut video ever! Cute kids, and a documentary filmmaking dad! LOL!!! Watch out for the AFROS!!!! They should have been born in the 70's!
NOTICE TO EVERYONE CONCERNED ABOUT ALLEN CRYING IN THIS VIDEO:
Their mother is black (my ex-wife), their father is black (ME), and oh, by the way, the HAIR DRESSER IS BLACK as well, but you could see that couldn't you. and we all have the same hair to a degree. And what black child with a lot of hair doesn't cry when it's getting brushed or combed? I know my sisters sure did, so why is everyone so sensitive now about this one child crying???? Trust me - they lived, they were even happy and having fun in this same video. Get real people, that was no great trauma, just a cry baby, and only one of them not the other. - There DADDY
P.S. I cut their hair myself now. Here I am cutting it with their mother, and she is not mixed either. vimeo.com/8492...

Also, why are people criticizing concerning the crying. That is the reality of our hair. Some children will cry others won't. No matter how gentle... if you accidentally tug on a knot or try to separate the hair the child isn't going to be happy about that. The person combing the hair isn't a meany. She didn't seem overly brash or inconsiderate. People... get over it!

Filmmaker Tim Alexander "What black child with a lot of hair doesn't cry when it's getting brushed or combed?" I don't think that is limited to black children. Some children, a lot of hair or not, simply cry because they do not want their hair brushed or combed. Just Saying! :)

Her technique was all off. There are ways to blow dry without the tugging and she didn't properly detangle their hair first. Perhaps, she forgot in front of the camera but this just wasn't appropriate. Yes, kids don't like getting their hair done. Yes, they cry, I know I did. The real issue is her technique for me. They are gorgeous kids but I hold haircuts were done in the barber shop in the future. As this stylist is not trained enough to do a proper haircut.

+Rebecca Calvino My daughter is biracial and her hair is almost identical to the boys hair in the video. You can't just brush through that type of hair like you could yours or mine. You have to properly section the hair and detangle using your fingers and a proper comb, as well as some type of product like a conditioner or a detangler. And ALWAYS wet, you never want to comb hair like that dry. That can cause the hair to break.

SiLeNtO Clash of clans as a black woman with curly natural hair.....you do NOT have to straighten your curls to cut it. It makes more sense to cut it curly if that's how you wear it than to straighten it. Cause once it curls back up it won't have that same shape anymore.

xFuzzyLove The point made in the video is that, while they are children, the mom is going to cut their hair because of how much time it takes to maintain it. When they get old enough to do their own hair they can probably have it any length they want. But at the moment it probably takes up to an hour to style each child's head.

They had beautiful hair before it was cut... Just needed proper tools and product... Could have gotten cornrows if doing their hair was too much work. I agree that they're adorable. Gonna be lady killers when they get older (if they aren't already). And yes, the hairdresser was using the wrong brush on their hair. And was too rough with them. I used to do little kids hair because I couldn't stand watching other people/parents be rough with them, watching the poor kids crying and hearing or watching the person doing the hair say they would hit them over the head with the brush if they didn't stop crying (or actually being hit over the head with the brush). Or hearing them say they would cut it all off if they were gonna cry because it wasn't worth the tears and hassle... I'd always intervene and the kids would be skeptical at first but, after, I would start getting calls constantly because I was who the kids wanted to do their hair. No tears, all smiles, and wonderful hair designs. Kids can't sit still either, so most of the time they don't get good hair styles, but if you know what you're doing you can still achieve amazing hairdos without threatening, hitting, or holding the kid down to get them to sit still. It takes patience and empathy. I don't understand how people can be so rough with other people when they wouldn't be that rough with themselves.

If she would have wet their hair it would have been easier to comb through and cut you also risk heat damage by blow drying. It wouldn't have taken her nearly as long if their hair was wet and you would have had the same result.

My hair is of similar texture to theirs. I've had my hair combed, cut, and styled wet. And it dried in the desired style and shape. Look at Allan's hair from 4:51-5:01. The first cut was how she shaped it while his hair was blown out, but by the time you see the final result his hair has been wet in order to bring back his natural curl pattern and get rid of the poofy blown out look. If she was going to wet their hair in the end to have it curl up in to the desired shape, she should have and could have just styled their hair wet from the get go and saved a lot of time and effort.

While I agree that all kids hate getting their hair combed, I also know that 90% of black hairdressers don't know how to properly comb out hair without pulling and causing breakage. Well...they know but it's like they forget. I've been to a white hairdresser and she didn't rip through my hair and didn't fry my hair with heat, but they can't do sew ins.

Animal Lover the brush isn't just going to glide through there hair...there African American and they have to be "rough" to get it detangled or its just going to get matted
@irrelevance3859
@irrelevance3859 7 жыл бұрын
Thats how you do afro hair, if you're not rough, nothing is going to be done. Like Jessica said, brushes dont glide through our hair, its painful for everyone its just that some will cry some wont, You cant do afro hair without it hurting it just doesnt work like that

I think it was lovely before and after, my young cousin is the same age and has the same texture. So would I, if the length didn't weigh it down. But god forbid a hairdresser blow out or straighten any curls before cutting. She was obviously trained on European hair, not black hair. The only time I ever allowed that was when I wore it straightened all the time. Curly hair should be cut curly. Curls shrink to different length when dry, if you cut wet or stretched it gives a very uneven look when it's curly again. It doesn't matter too much with hair as short as they got but if it was longer. No damn way.

I can't believe so many people care to have an opinion on whether or not you should cut YOUR sons' hair. SMH. I could never make KZbin videos... I'd be going off on people daily.

i mean....when the question "would you want to deal with all this hair?" question came up my automatic thought was that if i ever had a child with hair like theirs i would learn how to do it. of course its going to be hard because hair that is kinky, curly, coiled etc is going to be harder because we arent even taught how to do our own natural hair, hair like theirs doesnt need to be tamed it just needs the right regiment an love an they are set. personally when i do have kids i want them to be completely comfortable with their natural hair an not think straight,fine hair is the only GOOD hair.

I have 2 boys... one just turned 10 and going on 5... both of their heads are thick, curly and down their backs... I once thought like you... I said I would keep their hair no matter what because they were born with it... but now it's a struggle to keep it maintained especially when you have tender heads... it's not like little girls heads where you can throw it in some pigtails and call it a day and you don't wanna keep too many ponytails in them as well, due to pulling and creating receding hairlines... you get.limited... neither of my son's hair has ever been cut... but I am now pregnant with my third and I refuse to have to do 3 heads not including my own(which has been put to the side)... I'm ready for those heads to be cut...just afraid I may not be able to recognize them afterwards lol

Alice Angel I love their hair and still do! It is natural now, just a whole lot shorter - it took an hour to do their hair each after we washed it to get the curls to be right and not tangled, and they CRIED! All is good now though!

Rylana Hunt White people are born with their hair too but they sure do cut it off! LOL!! :-D It's only hair, your time and life has more value than combing a boys hair for hours a week! Let him do it when he gets older. Time for a cut, everyone will survive. :-)
