The groups work realy wierd to me coming from the X32. I cannot set the levels of the channels going into it like I can with LR or auxes. It is either on or off only. This presents a big problem when trying to send a channel to a group and other groups/mixes at the same time as you no longer have control of the level between them. To reiterate, if you select the master or an aux you are now setting levels for that mix, if you select a group however your mix does not change, the faders for the inputs do not move and you cant adjust the levels into the group. Since I cant seam to be able to send an aux to the master using an aux would not fix his issue either. (aux you can set mix levels but not then send to the master, groups cant set a mix levels into the group but can send audio to the master. Any ideas or reason for the limitation?

Hi, i use qu pad app. And i want to use auxes seperatly. If i volume up the group 1-2, then my monitors which is plugged in to 1-2 output is also volumes up. But i want to make them seperate like aux1 is different and aux 2 is different. So after that, i can send volumes and effects seperetly.

Hi, so if i want to use a group for parallel compression of e.g. percussions i can't use the LR Mainbus for the dynamically more open channels and have to open another group for those so the channels have same run time before output? I understand why the bus needs some time but i don't understand why the stream to LR isn't simply delayed / latency compensated as soon as an input is assigned to different busses. That's a downer and would use up groups even if no processing at all was needed. I know there's the parallel path but i want different EQs (more low and high end in the heavily compressed signals) for resemblance of natural hearing, like a dynamic loudness button. Like it is i'd prefer selecting the same input on neighbouring fader strips or on customized layers - that way i need no group at all and can have individual parallel EQs and comps for each and every input, but then they need time to be all set ... and if you rang out mean resonances in the channel EQ you will have them partially back in the parallel channel if you use the filters differently - will that also create audible phase problemsn? Guess i have to use up double as many groups just for the lack of latency compensation hmmmmm.
@jstamets8 ай бұрын
While the video is pretty nice, it was a tad incorrect for the SQ on this point. The SQ does have phase coherent mixing - all latency is compensated so that regardless of the internal routing of the signal, all signals will be phase aligned on the outputs. Additionally, the total latency for the console is

Hi, i saw in your SQ5 BOARD can you explain how to assign all channels mute at a time for soft key No. 1
@AndreSchaier8 ай бұрын
Go to Routing, click on Mute Assign, Assign a channel to or view a mute group. When You view a mute group, you can assign as many channels as you like to a mute group. Hope tha helps

Hello Andre, on an sq6 Allen n heath is it possible to send a DCA to an aux channel and how ?
@AndreSchaier2 ай бұрын
@@valeriodemelo Hi Valerio, a DCA doesn't carry any audio signal. A DCA is purely a remote controller for other faders. Therefore you can't send a DCA to an AUC Channel, because there is nothing to send. Hope that helps

Question on your group routing. Near 4:23 you unassigned the group from the LR and route to a Matrix. I am still trying to wrap my head around matrix usage, so can you explain the need to do this, rather than just assign to the LR mix, please? Thanks as always!! -DC
@AndreSchaier3 жыл бұрын
There is no NEED to unassign it from the main LR. But it´s a good to be able to. For example: You have some extra speakers, that need something different in it, than your mains. (The Drums are loud enough in the room your in, but not in the next room. You could have the drums on a group and add it to the matrix that feed speaker in that other room). Hope that helps a bit! Cheers, André

Andre, In the aux section of Allen n heath sq6 what would be the difference between a group bus and an aux bus ?
@AndreSchaier2 ай бұрын
An Aux get´s the signal pre fader and is mostly used for monitors. Groups get their signal post fader and are used to combine a group of channel, like drums, vox, guitars, etc. But you first have to assign the inputchannels to a group. Don´t forget to unassign those channels from LR or you could run into phaseproblems. Hope that helps a bit!

I’m using DCA in the way you are using these groups. Is my approach wrong. Coming from an analog mixer that had subs group. Would these groups your showing here be the same concept or is that DCAs?
@AndreSchaier10 күн бұрын
@@orvillem You could see it like this: Con: DCAs don´t offer any processing possibilities since they are "only" remote fader options for a number of faders you choose to be in a DCA group. Pro: You can choose any fader contolled channel (and not only inputs) like inputs, outputs, groups, FX sends and return, matrices or all of the above at the same time.

HI. these videos are very interesting. I wanted to ask you: is it possible to make a group like you did for the drums to be sent to the master if you need 12 auxes? i seem to have seen in the setup that if you select 12 aux they are 0 groups. I find the group function very interesting because it allows for further adjustment
@AndreSchaier Жыл бұрын
Hi Tony, on the SQ you have a total of 12 so called "mixes" that can be configured to be groups or auxes. If you need 12 auxes, then you have indeed no mixes left to be your group. There is one workaround that sadly involves money: you could buy a me1 or me500 unit. These small mixers that are independend of your SQ and would provide the musician with the ability to mix themselfs. So, if you happen to have enough budget you could for instance get 12 me1/me500 units for your monitor mixes and then could use all your 12 mixes in the SQ to create groups. Hope that helps, CHeers

Hello Andre or anyone here, I have multiple channels assigned in group that goes to MainLR. Other Mixes for AUX output are taking input from used unmixed channels. However whenever I mute the group, signal is still going to other mixes (like it should). I would like to utilize same effect like assigning channels to DCA and muting the whole DCA, on Groups and use their features like GEQ, PEQ and Compressor. On 3rd party mixing app I can gang together mute attribute of DCA (with assigned channels) and Group (with same channels). However on SQ5 we can gang attributes only of Inputs (Channels, not Mixes). MuteGroups are great solution, but I can’t activate them by muting the Group (I have to separately press Soft keys). And utilizing both DCA and Groups is a bit hard whenever I need to change stage setup. My question is: How can I mute channel output by muting Group? (Sending Groups to Mixes is not good solution for me)

Hi Ruben, the SQ mixer has 12 stereo mix channels with processing that can be used as either auxiliaries or groups. You can not change that. However, if you are willing to invest into the ME personal monitoring system, you can provide your musicians with more monitor possibilities. ME-1 and ME-500 are small mixers that usually sit right next to the musician, who can mix themselfs. You can daisychain the MEs and you will not loose any of yout 12mix channels on your SQ. Hope that helps a bit. Cheers André

I think for routing channels to a group, you just have to press the assign button and not the ch. to mix and assign button.

Hi 27mal5, you can actually use both. One is for: " who wants more guitar?". The other one: "what do you want to have in your monitor?"

@@AndreSchaier I thought the assign button is there to assign channels to groups or the L/R and the "ch. to mix button" is there to send the selected ch. to different aux mixes. I'm confused.
