Guitar great Jamie Glaser mentioned this man as one of the greats. I am so glad I decided to check this out. Along with a phenomenal band, Mr. Hinds gets an otherworldly tone out of his Tele and his slinky, at times legato, playing style is absolutely stellar.

I love Allen's touch, tone, dynamics and note choices. Really enjoy his playing. The band is also great, really like Travis. I saw him play with his dad, I was surprised the ceiling tiles in the venue didn't start falling during his bass solo. LOL! Really powerful bass tone.

Hey Pete, He uses Red Plate Amps most of the time. A lot of his tone is honestly from his hands and his unique touch to the guitar. I had the honor and pleasure to take lessons from him at MI for a quarter and learned a lot about his gear, approach, etc. Whenever he did open counseling at Musicians Institute, he would plug in to a Blackstar ID Core combo, on a clean setting with just reverb and a tiny bit of delay. He would often use the Zen Drive or his Soul Driven pedal for drive sounds...Sounds similar to the tone in this video, just not as loud of course. Hope this helps answer your question.

Allen is on the same level as Jeff Beck. Only difference is Beck hobnobs with Clapton.Allen Hinds is in rare company.Very few are his equal.
