Iverson man that dude broke every mold. Single handedly got the Sixers to the Finals. In HS he was an all state QB too and unlike Bryce Young I believe homeboy could have handled the NFL punishment. The " practice" interview was the iconic bit of the 2000's. Also Shaq, btw this podcast is up there with the Kelce's, was absolutely unstoppable force of nature and if Riley said that the powers that be should take his coaching/GM card away and burn it.

The current science confirms that stretching before exercise is not necessary. And the importance of rest for players who play a lot of minutes during the season is understood now, especially for 7 footers who put more stress on their joints like Shaq. So the irony is that AI and Shaq were right, and the expert opinion and old school coaching in the 90s was wrong.

@jakestine4753
@jakestine4753 3 ай бұрын
Stretching prior to warm ups is actually dangerous. Warming up is important. Don't just jump into sprints. Walk around a bit, get your heart rate up, THEN hit the sprints. Stretching? Only positive effect it has is help get your heart rate up, same as walking or light shoot-around. Stretching has no other benefit, and has risks because it can cause small tears in the muscle fibers that don't have a chance to heal before gametime. The ONLY good time to do stretching is AFTER the game - when your goal is to break up muscle scar tissues and generate blood flow to clear away lactic acids to aid in the recovery process.

I remember wondering about Ivey here and there, but then you actually watch him in a game, especially playoffs, and you're done wondering. Shaq could'a done with a healthier diet, but just so he could play longer...his career was fine. His three or four year peak might have been the most dominant...thing? the league has ever seen, bar none. Literally no one in the league could do a god damn thing until Ben Wallace came along, but that was probably halfway Shaq just getting older.
