At the 1998 Classic Mechanics Show, Allen Millyard cut up two Kawasaki S1B engines by hand and constructed a 415cc five cylinder engine which he later demonstrated.

The snag with all Japanese triples was overheating the middle pot. The 250 and 350 were ok if not souped up but the 500 and above were either ladders like Suzuki 550 or prone to blowing up like the big Kawasakis. The air cooling fins look stunning but they don’t cool effectively across the whole bank.

Totally practical and reliable too... unlike that useless 48 cylinder thing (interesting project but entirely useless). All of Allen's bikes are better than standard in every regard ..

Suzuki water cooled their 750 triple to avoid the middle cylinder overheating. They went massively OTT on the engineering but it was reliable. Kawasaki just put bigger carb jets in the middle pot so got a reputation for horrible fuel consumption. I would love to see Allen’s five with water cooling. Edit- Or maybe put a fan in front of each middle cylinder to push cooling air through.

Ok, now...What about the crank? If i had my way it would be like Porsche 356 race motors that dowel pin connect.....All balanced and sealed perfectly because you do realize theres lots of dynamics going on with the curvarure, casting internally that big time effects the scavaging of mixed fuel and air.........The super in the know Japanese engineers work all that out before any casting of the KH and S triple engine cases were casted...
