In this video I show you around my 1972 Millyard Kawasaki S2 350 four cylinder with a brief description on how i made the engine and then a ride out to hear the bike.
I will be making a new 350cc four cylinder engine very soon, recording the whole process over several video instalments from the first cut to firing then engine up on a test rig. follow my channel community tab for updates.
Thank you
Allen

They were (the H2 at least) as fast as anything when they were cold. Presumably before everything expanded with the heat. Centre plug oiling up in traffic was a pain. Kept plug spanner and plugs in my pocket.

Very true. I have been guilty of inflicting a few 'project specials' on the world...and they looked like they had been built in a shed. With what really is a fairly basic set of tools, he creates things to a standard that makes me want to cry. Nothing seems to be out of place, yet you know so many things would have to be tweaked and adjusted to fit after making your engine that much wider. But...it just looks seamless. It's a tough job for the average dude in his garage, but it's the exact same process as any 2-stroke street bike crank rebuild. If you need to replace bearings or seals on one of these, you're taking it down to its parts and manually setting up all the crankpin angles. If you can do a twin, you can do a straight-8.

My favourite two strokes of the era were the Suzuki triples, not up to the Kawasaki in performance but I loved their melodic gurgle. Kawasaki was more of a crackle. As the Kawasaki goes my favorite was the 400, it just felt a little more refined. I would love to take any of them around the block again and I would probably just melt into my boots for a chance to ride an Allen Millyard recreation.

@JETZcorp
@JETZcorp 2 жыл бұрын
I highly recommend it. But, I do suggest getting the cleanest one you possibly can. These things will run "a little funny" when absolutely EVERYTHING is completely trashed. When I got my 400 triple, it seemed like it was just a bit out of tune. Turns out it had a LIST of problems that anyone will tell you should have stopped it from running at all. Ignition wires with no insulation and arcing to the cases, crank seals so chewed up you could see through them, compression 40psi down, the works. But you could kick start it with your hand and it idled like a brand new Cadillac. So make sure you get a good one. Plus, when/if you decide to sell it, a cherry example will hold/gain value much better. Someone previously recommended the Suzuki triples; I put my vote in for the Kawasakis. The Suzukis obliterate the myth that 2-strokes don't have low-end torque - they pull like V8s. But if you want to feel like you're riding a 2-stroke, the Kawasakis are much more "2-strokey". They're not scary like all the myth and legend would have you believe (certainly not as scary as a modern R6), but just zippy and eager. If you want scary, get some kid to let you ride his 85cc dirt bike. Also, if something seems amiss and people try to tell you "2-strokes are just like that", they're probably wrong. Very few people have experience with 2-strokes, and most of the people who had one, had no idea how to take care of it. In my opinion, a 2-stroke is easier to maintain and easier to live with than a 4-stroke, but they trip people up because it's not just like a car. When in doubt, dirt bike people tend to be a lot more savvy than street bike people. They know that a surge or a stutter is not "just the way it is" but a simple tuning issue that can probably be solved in 10 minutes.

@@Munter1 That's good to know. I ran Castor Oil in my tank (Buell). Childish.....I know, but I'd turn the bike around, just to ride back down the street I'd just come down, to smell it. In 1970 I used to do the same thing in my Royal Enfield Crusader Sport. Last year, 2019 I ran it in my Buell and my V-Rod. It's true! ...us guys just will not grow up!

Sugestion Allen how about you do your interpretation of the legendary Honda 6 cylinder cbx 1000 with nice racing pipes on just for the soundtrack alone. Cant wait to see your next build

You've made me want a 2 stroke again , that was bloomin brilliant . I'll need to watch the build video so I can understand a bit more . I remember Motorcycle Mechanics doing a story on a guy that extended an X5 or X7 engine about 35 years ago . Me and my mates were blown away by the story . I had a 250 engine years ago and swapped it for an air rifle , wish I'd kept it now . Those bikes were everywhere back in the day .
