Eric Pham people need to understand that the the veto power is not a power given from the UN to the five permanent members, the reason why the big five have this power is because in area under the influence of this countries (UK-commonwealth, China-East Asia, France-Africa, Russia-East Europe, USA-America etc), without the permission of these countries, decision made by the UN cant really be carried out. Veto gives the big five a way put the matter on the table and reject it before any actions are taken and turned into serious matter

May be India will be made a permanent member after she equals her population to that of PRC, stay ahead as the most populous country and be there for a century at least. Right now the populations are : PRC 1,412.600 mill., India 1,388.678 mill. & the difference is 23.922 mill. India (with thrice the growth rate of that of PRC) is reputed to add Australia's population (25.957 mill.) every year. Before the next year end, that will happen.
