It's where you get on the PA (you need a PA) and say, "Yo, buddy. Any time this year." And you say it like you love Brooklyn. (And you better fucking love Brooklyn because you don't wanna be around when Brooklyn gets its feelings hurt, lol.)

I've been driving in Europe for almost 4 years now and been almost everywhere. (I know some will still call me a rookie, but w/e.) Lately i've been thinking more and more about moving to the US or Canada, to get into trucking over there, because I find myself ready for the next challenge. I think across the pond people have more respect for the profession and the facilities like truck stops are a lot better. Here in Europe I can't see a bright future in trucking anymore. What do you think about this idea? Should I stay in Europe, or make the switch? And how hard is it to get your CDL?

+Neodar I don't know much about trucking in Europe, so I'll take your word we have better facilities. I think drivers in the US see less respect then in the past. So I don't know if it would be a good move or not to come here. But getting a CDL in the States is pretty simple. As of right now, technically no formal training is needed. You just need access to a Class A combination vehicle to take the drive test. Most people entering the field don't have that, so they go to a 4 week school to learn what is needed to pass the drive test. The schools typically provide the truck for the test. Sooner then later the formal training mandate will be implemented. I'm pretty sure it will somewhat mimic the existing 4 week courses.

+Truckin NorCal Thank you for the info. The only major thing that keeps me in doubt is the fact that in the U.S. drivers get paid per mile instead per hour like they do over here in Europe. Maybe it's just because I am not used to the idea, but over here we sometimes have a lot of waiting, that would mean, no money in the U.S.

+Neodar Yes, "per mile" is very typical for Over The Road drivers. Lots of local driving jobs pay by the hour.
