We beat you three years later in the Super bowl. This year you guys had an elite QB who dragged a pretty bad defense to the big game. Meanwhile, your opponent had a solid defense that dragged a terrible QB to the big game. The terrible QB fell flat against your pretty bad defense, while the solid defense fell flat against your elite QB with the help of his run game. Your fan base needs to give Peyton Manning more credit for this game. He threw for 247 yards against a defense that trained themselves to only stop his passing game, which he realized and gave it to Domonic Rhodes a lot. He only made one mistake in this game. The fumble he had was not his fault, it was on the running back. Don't forget about the TD pass he had to Reggie Wayne while a defender grabbed his waist

From Marvin Harrison barely playing to Reggie Wayne shining, to hit catch/fumble/ recatch, Calvin Hayden’s pick 6 that was reviewed for 30 minutes to the absolute shutdown of Rex grossman, making Brian urlacher a non factor and bob sanders closing the game. Prior to their first game of the 2006-07 playoffs Indianapolis had surrendered more than 100 rushing yards in each of their previous TWENTY games. Then the Chiefs, Ravens, and Patriots all failed to gain 100 yards on the ground vs the Colts in the playoffs. Indy was a 12 yard run by Thomas Jones on the penultimate play of this already decided Super Bowl away from keeping Chicago under 100 rushing yards, too. Also, Indianapolis and Chicago both scored exactly 427 points during the regular season. You know, inspite of the fact that one of those teams had Peyton Manning and the other had Rex Grossman....a dominant defense and Devin Hester.

I was at a friend's house with a group of folks watching and when it was 22-17 in the fourth quarter we all looked at each other and asked "how the heck is the score even this close?" Every stat line; first downs, total yards, time of possession, turnovers, everything was so lopsided in favor of Indiana that the Bears did well to stay in the game. Bob sanders, Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne and Peyton Manning all on the same team was just unfair

Bob sanders was so underrated

Yet they only won once. I know Sanders had injuries, but with those other 3 you’d think they woulda been more succesful

Reggie Wayne is really really good.
@aaronwhite3172 жыл бұрын
If the bears would've had a decent QB an Kirk Cousin, Jimmy G, hell give them a Tyrod Taylor or Ryan Fitzpatrick type QB they probably would've won that and maybe another super bowl
@tobiasblack17492 жыл бұрын
Rex Grossman was the best player for the Colts in this game. 49ers now days complain about Jimmy G. Well the Bears would have won the Super Bowl with him. How big are Rex Grossman's hands? It is like watching a Toddler grab a wet NFL football.

Cedric Benson should’ve never been put in. Thomas Jones was having a great game.
@seantbuckley88 Жыл бұрын
You're right, Thomas should have had the lion's share of the carries, but they both played really well to beat the Saints in the game before, so you can kinda see why they used Benson so much. His fumble was bad. He should be used much further up the field. The reason the Bears lost, aside from Manning and Wayne was they threw the ball waaay too much. Grossman posted some numbers that season, BUT you can't trust a guy who looks like he is falling over his own feet when backing up from the snap. The Bear's should have played this like the NFC championship game and just run the effin ball. Leave the crowd pleasing stuff to the D and special teams.They may not have won, but they would have stood a good chance.

As a colts fan I miss Peyton manning and Andrew luck I remember I was 3 and I went to a football and I was like "OMG IS THAT ANDREW LUCK!"
@Hearhegeneral2 жыл бұрын
That was a good bears defense that year too & the colts just made them look bad. Plus the colts offense was crazy too manning was on another level here.
@sethbutler19582 жыл бұрын
Pains me to see Grossman be that horrific in a crucial game. A year in a half prior, the Bears had a top 10 pick, they had Aaron Rodgers on the board right there for the taking. Could you imagine what this game could have been if the Bears just took the right qb in that draft? Now, Aaron Rodgers taunts the Bears year in and year out with the Pack.
@KingVin7125 жыл бұрын
Damn, Grossman really did stink.

This is the only Superbowl I watched at a movie theater. Cinemall in Abingdon Va, decided that they would show the Superbowl that year. I'm not sure if they ever did it again after that? I'd rather just watch the Superbowl at home, but it was a unique experience, and worth a try. If you're a beer drinker it's not the place to go.
