out of everything that irritates me about fundies, the arrogance gets me the most. they're constantly claiming to speak authoritatively on the nature of the entire universe--because that's the equivalent of their understanding of God. girl defined is really really guilty of this as well, their entire schtick is that they're going to explain to you God's perfect design for womanhood or whatever. the magnitude of that claim is comical in it's own right, but then you're going to hear it from a couple of unusually sheltered people whose experience of other people, ideas and the world has been deliberately narrowed to the size of a thimble. but it's a special sort of jarring to hear it from someone who seems somewhat better educated than most fundies, and who is much better spoken. it's the same sort of infantile logic and confidence with a mature delivery. it's like you're hearing an argument for why everyone should eat ice cream for every dinner, but it's written like a college essay.

It's kind of funny because I think this is really just classic ADHD tendencies to read a bunch of things and want to spout off about random stuff you find interesting. The whole idea that people want to have abortions up nine months??? No one wants one that late…. Shit has really gone wrong if it’s needed. Pisses me off
@MaidMirawyn2 ай бұрын
If someone wants to have an abortion “just because” they don’t want a baby, they’re going to want to get it as soon as possible. Pregnancy is hard and not fun. Why would they do it for months? If someone is choosing abortion in the third trimester, something is wrong. It’s almost certainly a threat to the safety or life of the pregnant person, or because the baby couldn’t survive. Someone doesn’t carry a baby for six months then just decide, “Nah, let’s not.” There is a reason, and it’s not a fun one.
@LibraryLady9292 ай бұрын
@@MaidMirawynit’s also deeply insulting to me personally as a preeclampsia survivor. I would have given ANYTHING to not endure what I did or go through having my son born at 29 weeks and in the NICU for almost 2 months. Pregnancy isn’t always easy for everyone and sometimes things happen that are completely and utterly out of your control, especially when it’s your body literally betraying you. (Preeclampsia is thought to be an autoimmune reaction to the cells that make up the placenta and therefore the placenta isn’t allowed to implant deeply enough.)

"Unconditional election" sounds to me like a Calvinist belief that it doesn't matter if they are kind or horrible in life as they have a guarantee to get into heaven. It's a Get Out of Jail Free card for their soul.
@Nassifeh2 ай бұрын
Technically, it's a Get Out of Jail Free card for everybody's souls! If God wants us, he can count those childhood baptisms even if we never went to church, he can take our deathbed conversions, whatever, somehow we'll be cool. If he doesn't want us, we might as well live it up now. And on the flip side, none of them technically have any way of knowing that God isn't up there like, "yeah, but you're gonna have a crisis of faith because of lack of adequate pain management when you're 80 years old and dying of colon cancer, and then you're going to die right after telling me to fuck off, so none of this counts."

If conservatives genuinely cares as much about children as they rattle on about when it pertains to abortion, they’d be boots on the ground themselves helping kids that need it once they’re here. The idea that god is compassionate and loving is incompatible with the idea that he created billions of sentient beings, decided on the small number to reward with eternal salvation, decided to punish the rest with ceaseless, eternal torment, and then just sat back watched them try in vain to exert free will over their own lives. I wonder if many Calvinists know, on some level, that their version of god is an incomprehensibly sadistic monster, but they aggressively suppress that knowledge and insist that he is kind and loving just so they don’t piss him off and incur his wrath.

Thankful for you!! You powered through this like a boss. Thank you for putting so much time and hard work into this. My mother is a hardcore Allie supporter, daily listener and mega fan and you breaking down this harmful rhetoric is so validating and keeping me sane heading into the holiday season. I also grew up Calvinist and appreciate you dedicating a section to it. I find it very telling when a Christian chooses to believe they are one of the few, special “chosen”

i, a former catholic, also went "oh, of course she's a calvinist..." once you said it 😂i went to high school with a calvinist girl and she ended up going to liberty university. her and allie beth look and act like twins. the only difference is that the girl i know tries to walk the line between her strict faith and supporting her trans sibling. i had to unfriend her mom on facebook bc she would constantly post baby photos and deadname him talking about how good life used to be, like he was dead or something. now it makes a lottttt of sense.

I'm a middle school teacher and when Allie Beth started giving advice to that teacher, I literally flipped off my computer and stopped the video while telling her to shut her stupid mouth. If a teacher at my school started doing what she was suggesting, I would be at every school board meeting, pushing for them to get fired. The way that Allie Beth weaponizes empathy... I think she is my new most hated human. Sorry Phyllis Schlafly- you have been replaced.

“Is the compassion in the room with us?” 😂😂😂 but in all seriousness I very much enjoyed the diary entries.

I’m half way through and I’ve had to take many breaks because of just how hard it is to watch Allie and the stuff she says. Thank you for all your hard work and transparency ❤

It felt like a subtle dig at Shapiro from her when she said, "You should know more than anyone that college students..." because I think Shapiro did debate for a while but only college students! Which is hilarious if that's what she intended or not! LMAO

I demand all sponsor segments be delivered by Randy Savage from now on!

Jen - I bow down in recognition of your sacrifice to bring us this epic and wonderful deep dive. I was braced for the worst of ABS and yes it was there; but you brought empathy and humanity to her too, regardless of her views of others and empathy itself. Loved the daily(ish) video blogs during the process - whilst sometimes felt like 'day 5 in this alt reality prison' they gave moments of reprieve and grounding for the listener/viewer. I hope you have given yourself recovery time and lots of destress fun having let go of this into the world.

I really appreciate how respectful and honest Jen is while talking about her. I would never be able to stomach her content on my own so I appreciate the sacrifice so much!

The Macho Man/Mean Gene sponsor segment cheered me up SO MUCH (especially since certain undertakers have made me extremely sad to be a pro wrestling fan recently). You guys are just the best

She legit reminds me of the Commander's wife from The Handmaid's Tale. Allie Beth Stuckey is where those women come from, and that's where the xtian nationalist/theocractic fascist/etc. women leaders go after they "win". Blue dresses and silence.

Not gonna lie. I've had to watch this in pieces. I hope you rested after this horrific personality. Learned a lot. Almost feels like you wouldnt have to do a Jinger/Jeremy video too, on a religious front lol. Thanks for a crazy comprehensive video on ABS!

That bit where you talked about how life really is beautiful, and that most people want to help others, did me good. It's hard to remember that sometimes
