i feel like this is kinda slander, they arent that aggressive, vicious, horrifying, and all the other mean things said about them, they just be chillin at the bottom of lakes minding their own business. They arent these "aggressive vicious monster beasts" put on earth to terrorize us humans like this video makes them out to be, they are simply animals doing what they know to do to survive. and this video is misleading in the sense that alligator snapping turtles dont even attack people! the only time your gonna get bitten is if your messing with it, and half of the footage shown, people are *forcing* the turtle to bite random stuff. And then at the end you try to talk about conservation and how their numbers are dropping and its like, dude, do you really expect people to care about them after you just sat there and demonized them for 11 minutes straight? and if you wanna talk about "aggressive" snapping turtles, common snapping turtles are WAY more "aggressive" and even then, snapping turtles can still make great pets and be friendly if you raised them right, but back to wild ones, snapping turtles in general are not "aggressive" they are *"defensive".* like, if your walking by a pond with a snapping turtle in it, its not gonna just lunge itself out of the water to attack you, even if you are in the water with them (im speaking from experience here) they will almost always swim AWAY from you if they feel they are able to flee! now if you go and pick up a snapper out of the water where it feels vulnerable and mess with it thats on you, thats like the only time people get hurt by snapping turtles, is when they are invading it's space, if you dont mess with a snapping turtle, it wont mess with you, it wants nothing to do with humans, let alone seeking them out to attack them. they arent aggressive, they arent vicious, they arent monsters nor beasts, they are just turtles. Now I will give credit where credit is do, there is a lot of great and very accurate information in this video, but the execution was.... idk...

Why anyone would want one as a pet is beside me, can't figure that out! It amazes me that their head can move around so quickly, when they are handled. You'd surely have to watch your fingers and hands! 🐢

Been living around these guys my entire life. Small ponds. Large fresh water lakes. Swimming. Walking in the water. Toes hanging above the water from a dock.. Never a problem…Going into town and picking up a stray bullet worries me more than these guys.,just saying…

I always wanted to have one of those. But I was told that it was illegal to have. So I ended up stumbling around found a common snapping turtle. Highly aggressive ! Got him as at the size of a half dollar from the job at the paper mill.

That was a really cool video with lots of great information, but I was confused by where you said "venom-soaked bite" in regard to a bite wound from them. I'm sure you were alluding to your next point about how easily infected their bite wounds become, but it makes it sound like they are venomous and thank goodness they haven't evolved That on top of everything else they've got going for them! Haha

There's never been a documented case of a alligator snapping turtle attacking a human. Instead they are a threatened species in all states in which they inhabit and are protected by strict state wildlife fish and game laws due to the over harvesting of them during the seventies, '80s and 90s! The alligator snapping turtle has a bite force of 158 Newtons which is not as strong as it's smaller relative the common snapping turtle bite force of 209 Newtons. Research was conducted at the University of Antwerp Belgium of the bite force in Turtles and is available at the evolution of bite force in Turtles- Wiley Online Library.

Watch the Common Snapping Turtle video then. Animals are not monsters, if u watch the vids u'd realise that our goal is animal protection and conservation. We show what some pple think of them hence initiate to hunt them so we try our best to change the way they think of them.
