I was also curious, I noticed you check this Allison bus Transmission dipstick with the engine off. I was also told to check Transmission dipsticks with engine running. My 2002 Blue Bird A3RE 8.3 ISC Cummins w/Allison MD3060 Transmission always have given me hard time checking fluid on the dipstick. Wanted to see why you show checking Transmission Fluid with engine off. 🙏🚎Thank you my friend.

@@miquelbotello4608 you can check the fluid level when it's cold or hot, there is a cold mark and a hot mark on the dipstick

@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair I'm not a Transmission specialist by any means. I was just wondering about checking the Transmission Fluid when the engine is off, I've always checked Transmission when the engine is running and wanted some clarity since this is my first Diesel bus.

Am a mechanic of 17yrs now, just not a transmission specialist by any means jaja, but just wanted to know what works best because I've always had trouble getting a reading on my Allison md3060 transmission, even on level ground by adding the 19qts. But just wanted to know why you checked it off, since I've always been taught to check transmission when vehicles running and not off. But I truly appreciate it for always getting back to me. The transmission manual indicated that the fluid level must be measured with the engine at neutral, idle speed, horizontal surface and normal engine temperature.

Why do you dip the O rings in transmission fluid?

@ShannyBananny07 Lubricating the O-ring helps seat it properly in it's groove and prevents pinching or cutting of the O-ring During installation! Great question Mi amor!
