This little engine has reliably powered the magnificent Bell Jet Ranger helicopter for over 50+ years and is one hell of a gem of an engine! So tough and dependable.

This little jet engine is an amazing piece of engineering. Simplicity and robust. Maybe not the most efficient in the world. But just a badass piece, my favorite. Would love to build a jet boat with this driving an impeller. As compared to most using a chinook 1200 -2000shp. I think the lighter weight and power would be great for a little 14-16ft boat. Or mini jet boat.

The one I played with had a bigass valve at the top of the intake. Great engine to learn with IMO.

THE INSTRUMENTATION DESIGN AND CONTROL OF A T63-A-700 GAS TURBINE ENGINE .A T63-A-700 gas turbine engine has been instrumented to measure performance parameters. Pressure and temperature monitoring systems have been designed, fabricated, and installed to ensure accurate measurement of performance parameters. All measured parameters have been compared against predicted thermodynamic cycle analysis. Design and control of selected engine systems have been modified to incorporate more precise engine control and safety. All using labview and visual basic.

If I ever get to a point where I have a good amount of free time and a good stable job with a comfortable amount of spare cash, I'd buy a nice, little, lightly-used Rolls Royce 250-C20 and a barn find Corvette, preferably the C4 chassis, and I'd put the two together. Maybe see if I can get these future "blackfinger" hands of mine on a C30 or even a C40 if those would fit in the engine bay. Then of course I'd have to make a heat exchanger to preheat the intake so it doesn't drain the fuel tank in a singular minute, the C20 does have like 400 herspers while the C40 makes a cool 700 flaming ponies of fury. And the heat exchanger would be so I can avoid peeling the paint of the Lambos I'd leave in my dust, and a nice exhaust after that to dampen the noise so I don't reach like 20 tickets per hour of law-shattering momentums. I'm also tired so I might not be thinking straight XD

Sir, I have a question for you. There are several videos of the Allison/RR 250 C turbine being tested on a ground stand. In such condition, the power turbine isn't connected to any mechanical load (transmission, or a test brake). Since the 250 is a free-turbine design, doesn't the power turbine overspeed - even with the gas producer at idle - when left unloaded? Thank you.
