Unbelievable how they started with Duane and Dickey and finished with Derek and Warren. Brilliant bookends. Of all the rock deaths over the last 4-5 years, it's Gregg I miss the most.

I visited the Rose Cemetery last Sept during GABBAFest and saw the whole family visiting the graves during that time. Both sad and invigorating as I could hear the older generation telling the grandchildren about the band. Happens every year. Google it, it would be worth your while. I am heading back this year.

Right with ya, brother. I'm 61 too. And the 'Beginnings' version got me through a couple really tough semesters of high school back in the 70's, almost single handed. But this version is superb. I can't watch it without sobbing tears of joy. That raw slide seems to yank every emotion I've ever had and dangle them in front of me. As if to say, "Hey! Ain't nuthin' but a thang!"

What a performance! Most amazing thing about Gregg is that his voice stayed so strong - he was one of the most authentic artists/voices in the entire history of blues, jazz, and rock. We miss him so much already and yes, even a little panda like me loves me some Gregg and da Bros. RIP precious Gregory.

Love this song, but as to the blues are the best, perhaps rethink that. I love trad Jazz as well, Sunday mornings are always Johann Strauss, and of course then there is always The Fab Four and Zeppelin that rise above the pack. Given that i love Dickeys songs and his melodic playing. Again i love the music of Ballet. In other words, open your ears and heart to all forms, music is the backdrop of life. If you love blues the best, awesome, that you love music so much, but there is no best, like saying so an so is the best guitarist, it's not a competition. Might i suggest you spend next Sunday morning listening to The Blue Danube Waltz!😊

Like other Allman Brothers fans from the early 1970s, I'm thankful that today we have Derek Trucks to carry it all forward in the form or the Tedeschi Trucks Band (and Warren Haynes in his band as well). There's are few voices as soulful as Gregg's was, but I'm also thankful for what Susan Tedeschi's voice, fronting TTB, brings to the Allman Brothers' musical progeny.

One of the biggest regrets I have is never seeing either Gregg or the brothers perform live. I just love this. Despite the hell Gregg put his body through, his voice still had the soul and snap it always had. And love the Miles Davis lick that Oteil plays during much of this song. In my lifetime back in the 80's I saw the Allman Brothers in Chicago. I'm 64 now. It brings back great memories. Back then when we were just kids, we used to say that Gregg Allman played the guitar 🎸 so fast his fingers blurred! On stage it was fast, but it didn't look like his fingers blurred. They put on the best concert ever! If you ever had a chance to see them, it's a great experience and will always bring a 😃 smile. Oh....the memories will always stay with you for a lifetime.

Just one more mornin, I had to wake up with the blues. Pulled myself out of bed, yeah, put on my walkin shoes. And went up on the mountain, to see what I could see. The whole world was fallin, right down in front of me. 'Cause I've a hunger for the dreams I'll never see, yeah, baby. Ah, help me baby, or, or this will surely be the end of me, yeah. Pull myself together, put on a new face. Climb down off the hilltop, baby, get back in the race. Lord, cause I've a hunger for dreams I'll never see, yeah, babe. Lord, help me baby, or, this will surely be the end of me, yeah. Pull myself together, put on a new face. Climb down off the hilltop, baby, and get back in the race. 4/28/70 I was a 'student' at SUNY Stony Brook, a Thursday night mind you..........and there was a concert in our gym ( that normally holds ~ 2000), and as such, only ~ 300 showed up. As a student, we all paid an activities fee, which meant all Concerts were gratus On the Bill, were the headliners 'Chicago' and a band no one ever heard of: The Allman Brothers Being the 'student' that I mentioned I was........I had nothing better to do, so I attended..........a double set show, with Chicago playing last. I remember sitting in the Audience Right bleachers almost at top....on the 180 degree line up from the riser stage. I don't have any memory of the 1st set of either band, but it was decent enough that I did decide to stay put for the second show from both. I'm assuming Chicago wanted to get out of 'dodge', as they played 1st to start the 2nd show, and then the Bro's followed! What I do remember, is by the end for the encore, me and ~ 50 other kids were all that were left, and I had come down off the Bleachers to 'boogie' right in front of the stage, to The Mountain Jam ! etc Changed my Musical LIFE to this day ! I'm still a HUGE fan of Duane and the Bros, and saw then a few times then before Duane passed, as well as Derek and the Bros a few times in their last years, as well as the PPV MSG 3/10/20 , ( a few days before NYC was Locked down ) which if you've not seen TRY TO ! You WON'T regret the $ outlay for the recording of the PPV! Trust me ! I had 4 heros back then, Jimi ( whom I also saw at school as well: OMG ), Eric, Jerry, and Duane. I play'd and still play guitar and those were/are my 'teachers' still. One of my 'piece de resistance' onemanband efforts is the Mt Jam ( go figure - LOL )
