Dicky Betts doesn't get the props he deserves!! Duane Allman was more creative and soulful (and my fav of all time) but Betts is actually probably the better player, as far as technical proficiency and overall ability... If you get what I mean lol! Unfortunately, after Duane's death, it became obvious that the true magic came from the band as a whole! Duane Allman was the glue that kept the whole thing together and, while obv still writing some incredible stuff, the band could never TRULY reach those levels without him! I kinda apply what Method Man says in a skit on Wu-Tang's 36 Chamber to the situation... The Allman Brother's Band forms like Voltron and Duane was the head...

@Blue collar Silver dollar - In many places, but especially the deep south, church was a great way to learn how to play and sing music, because almost every church had live music in those days before widespread recordings and sound-systems. Lots of local and regional gigs, too - very important to up-and-coming players learning their craft. The live-music circuit was good-enough in those days that one could make a decent living at music, provided one had a halfway decent act. All of that is gone now, most of it anyway. Well, at least there's still churchin' up!
@GeorgiaBoy1961

@@masterofsparkshwy6974 - Yeah, way to go! Being a southern man myself, I know about such families. It's like there's music in the air or the water or something, because everyone plays and there's always someone or something going on. A lot of small towns, not just in the south, but certainly there as well - there isn't a lot to do except eat, work and sleep, maybe go to church and the local tavern. So guys take up an instrument or three to pass the time. And being great at music, being a success at it, was also seen as a ticket out of town and to bigger and better things; "a way out and a way up."

I remember when this song came out. I was hooked from that day on. When Gregg Allman married Cher it was all over the news. They had a son together and I think they divorced not long after that. Music lost a great talent when he died. He was born in Nashville. I don't live far from there. I would have loved to been able to meet him. Between Allman brothers Hank Jr.and The Eagles blasting through the speakers I had some wild times on a lot of Tennessee back roads. Those were the days... 😜😉😁❤❤❤

Back in the mid-70s this nerdy 15 year old was approached by "the cool kids" at church who had a Christian ROCK band and they were older teens. They asked if I wanted to be in their band. I was SO excited ... couldn't believe it. They said they played Allman Brothers Band (ABB) style music. I said, "Oh, like Ramblin' Man." That was popular at the time and the only ABB song that I knew. They GROANED and said, "No, not that country crap, REAL Allman Brothers with Duane Allman." They introduced me to LIVE at Fillmore East and it completely changed my whole life. Turned out they asked me only because none of them liked to sing AND I had been singing solos and accompanying myself on piano at church since I was 8. So I became the "Gregg Allman" of the group 'Pure Faith' that later changed our name to 'The Jesse West Band' singing lead vocals and playing spinet piano and Hammond organ for a few years. Love, love, LOVE the Allman Brothers Band -- GREATEST band EVER!

The Allman Bros were very heavily inflected through their blues and jazz influences, like most "Southern Rock" bands of the 70s. This is a good old fashioned country-style stomp, which makes it a fun track from them! So much more to discover with this band, keep digging!

This is the first Allman Brothers song I ever heard. Way back in the early to mid 70s. Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bad Company, Hank Sr.,Jim Kroce is what I grew up on. So glad I got experience it when it happened. 70s and early 80s is best decades of music ever.80s Try Billy Squire The Stroke , Sammy Hagar 3lock box. And AcDc Back n black. 👍Grant it Hank Sr. Already passed away but I listened to my fathers albums in the 70s.

Cameron Crowe, who was a very young writer for Rolling Stone at the time, toured with the Allman Bros. He eventually made/directed the semi-autobiographical film "Almost Famous" which actually was about his travels with the Allmans. If you haven't seen it, DO! It's all about our deep deep love for rock and roll! (And at the time he was married to Nancy Wilson of Heart!)

Jamel here is where you may have heard this song in a movie : " Ramblin' Man " can be heard in the 1973 film The Exorcist, playing on a jukebox in a bar where two priests are conversing over beers at a table. In the 1989 movie When Harry Met Sally..., it can be heard playing in the background in a diner scene. It can also be heard in Season 1, Episode 1 of the TV series Supernatural. In an error, it can also be heard in Supernatural Season 4, Episode 3 entitled " In the Beginning ". Dean gets transported back in time and wakes up on a park bench. He stumbles into a diner where " Ramblin' Man " is playing on the jukebox and you can see the date on the newspaper that reads April 30 , 1973 , three whole months before the song was released. Scott Porter ( George ) covers the song in Hart of Dixie Season 02 Episode 02. The song is playable in the music video games Guitar Hero World Tour and Rock Band 2.

I don't recall this song ever being in any big movie or commercials. If it was, it had to a very brief insert. I think it's just such an iconic song and was played on every radio station for years when it came out and now is still played in heavy rotation on classic radio stations. It's not as recognizable as say Freebird, but it's up there.

Prophets of Rage was an American rap rock supergroup. Formed in 2016, the group consisted of three members of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave (bassist and backing vocalist Tim Commerford, guitarist Tom Morello, and drummer Brad Wilk), two members of Public Enemy (DJ Lord and rapper Chuck D), and rapper B-Real of Cypress Hill.[4][5] The band disbanded in 2019, following the reuniting of Rage Against the Machine. During its three-year existence, Prophets of Rage released one EP and one full-length studio album.
