Every member of the Allman Brothers were just so excellent at their craft. When a band can lose two integral members like Duane and Berry, both arguably the best of the best, and still make music of this quality - you have to realize that the whole band is just awesome in every way. We shall probably never see musicianship to equal The Allman Brothers ever again. I treasure their music.

You really hit the nail on the head and explained the real meaning of the song when you said the words You're my blue sky means love don't get no better than that. Very deep and so true. The Allman Brothers had so many great songs. They were from Macon Georgia, a small town with incredible musical artist including Little Richard. Think about this, In 1952 the #1 hit was How much is that doggie in the window? By Patty Page if I remember right. It woud make you so nauseous if yoy were drivingand heard it on the radio you would have to pull over and throw up! .#1 hit ? Save us Jesus! I saw a video (film actually in those days but in color)of Little Richard performing "Good Golly Miss Molly in a park in Macon Georgia in 1953, the year I was born He was totally Rocking Out Just Fantastic! Someome had to take delta blues and invent Rock and Roll to save us! Enjoyed your comments immensely. Take Care, Eric Clenney

Blue Sky -- man oh man !! I first heard this when I was about 12 or 13 . Right after Eat A Peach came out. My older brother [ by about 3 years ], who had already weaned me from pop music [ not that pop was bad music , but as when I used to think the music my brother was listening to was weird and even scary -- a la Black Sabbath -- it took one occurrence of spending some time in our room together while he was playing the Yes Fragile album ... suddenly I heard it. The musical section of my brain took a leap up. I wasn't afraid anymore ! But not only was I unafraid -- I was enraptured. Captured by the charms of melodic enchantment. ], told me that I had to listen to this song . I did. Needless to say, I was blown away. Inarguably one of the best guitar solos of all time [ up there with Hitching A Ride by Boston and It's A Long Way There by The Little River Band ] , the dang solo talks to you, man. Y'all know what I mean. The transition from one musician to the next one is mind-blowing. And it keeps on going ! Sublimely, and gratefully for us listeners . Blue Sky must have been one amazing woman . And I have a feeling that it wasn't only her physical looks that inspired Betts . Her soul probably had an impact on his own soul . But nonetheless , Blue Sky speaks of the pinnacle of the human experience in every aspect -- a marvelous woman [ or man ] , becoming a parent , the realization of the love of God for us as individuals , and of course the obvious one -- a blue sky , of which I can speak of personally, having lived in the Central Valley in California for almost 40 years . Once June arrived, the sky was perpetually blue until October . Sometimes all of the way through October, too . I never tired of this . It did get hot -- like a solid month of 100 + degree temperatures -- but the low humidity kept it from being unbearable . Until it hit 105 or higher . Yeah -- best to stay indoors when this happened . The beautiful blue sky even helped temper extreme temps, though. It did for me, anyway. Nothing is as bad as New Orleans in the summer with 90+ temps and 90 % humidity . You put your life in danger getting out too long in that pressure cooker .

Check out Tedeschi Trucks Band. They are currently making music and touring. Derek Trucks is the nephew of one of the Allman Bros members.

Yes, he did one already.. I forget which song, but he loves Susan Tedeschi's voice, and Derek's guitar work, but he should do some more..

The guitar solo is actually two solos. The first is Duane Allman (maybe his last before his untimely death) and the second is by songwriter and vocalist Dickey Betts. In the middle and at the end, they play together, and it sounds so good. My favorite all time song.

Her name was Blue Sky. Dickie Betts loved her like no tomorrow. The thing is Dickie was a drunk at the time as well. He and Gregg Allman had many falling outs due to Dickie falling off the wagon. Dickie as far as I know has been sober for a long time. He had to have a liver transplant. I think he is the last of the original band still alive.

It’s actually 2 solos brah. Duane starts it off then he gives the cue which is mirrored by Dickey then he takes over. Their talent is remarkable, Duane’s stretches and Dickeys melodies. Unparalleled.

Dickie Betts wrote this about his girlfriend, he also sang it.

Whenever I see that Eat A Peach album cover, it brings back lost of memories. Among the memories was a bit on Saturday Night Live where Dan Akroyd was portraying Jimmy Carter on a phone help line talking someone down from an acid trip, and Carter told him to listen to the Eat A Peach album. Good times!

Jamael_AKA_Jamal. That solo was actually two solo's. The first part was the one and only late great Duane Allman. It then seamlessly transitions into Dickie Betts part. It is seamless, but easy for the trained ear to tell the two apart. Love the ABB and love your vids.

Composed by Dickey Betts, featuring guitar solos by first Duane Allman and then Betts. Unfortunately, this was one of Duane Allman's last recordings - he died in a motorcycle accident at age 24 before the album, "Eat A Peach" was released. In one survey, Rolling Stone magazine had ranked him no. 2 on the list of greatest guitarists of all time.

Just a great Dickey showcase inside the rolling ramble of this amazing band.
