See my experience with the Bush Barrier Paint protection, I have to say on my most recent SA trip I wished I had it on as we had some much pinstriping on the way to Yellabinna Rock and I would have chances in between to get the car and panels cleaned and re-applied. Would Bush Barriers suitable for you? Let me know in the comments.

Steve and Skye sent mine out for my S4 Patrol last week and I used them in the Victorian high country over the weekend. I’ve also had logos and a design printed and they look amazing. If I had my time again this is one product I’d invest in straight up as an insurance policy to help reduce the risk of pinstripes and panel damage. The pros outweigh the cons by a mile. Thanks guys for an amazing product and thank you for your honest product review. George 🦾

Stephan, we bought a set for our Jimny on the basis of your review. Thanks for the information. Perhaps I can assist you...3M makes a duct tape that has no residue, but is highly adhesive. When we take our Jimny on the Laura Maytown Old Coach Road, I will use this tape to ensure that the panels do not suffer the ingress of water and dirt. Perhaps you should try this little trick on your overlander on those longer journeys. I think it will work well.

I have pinstripes all the way down the passenger side but not the drivers side. I tend to let the car scrape one side more than the other, well the drivers side is clean. The car is white. The pinstripes are harder to see on a white car so that's something to consider.

I have a set for my 200, I was thinking that I could tape and seal the edges for those longer trips. I just have to try a few different tapes. Also re storing, my panel lift door has a colour bond internal panel that I stick the panels to, the bigger ones go onto the freezer sides.

Use No Residue duct tape.

Bought them foe my LC 200, by the second trip I lost 2 panels... gone. Must have stripped off on the track by some bush. Didn’t realise it till I got home. Not very happy. Can get replacements but does come at a cost. Wouldn’t think it should come off doing a track similar to the Fraser island track on the clip.

that is interesting, to be honest I haven't used my ones any further simply because I can't be bothered cleaning and maintaining them on long trips. As I mentioned in the video they do the job and I think are good for weekend trips. Surprised that they completely came off though must have had stick peeling them off

I bought a set for my new S5 Y62. Great to kill 2 or 3 birds with one stone. They do protect when i will take it offroad, they advertise my business and they're cheaper than a wrap. Obviously there's downside to them but i think the pros outweigh the cons

I thought pin stripes was a badge of honor, something you showed your mates how good of a 4x4 driver you are and the difficult tracks you conquered.

lol my jacket is full of badges I have no more room for new ones

One other observation might be that some cars are more suitable than others for this kind of protection? The panels on the Patrol in the video looked fairly straight with curves mostly in one plane. If the panels have a lot of compound curves, it would be hard for the magnet sheet to adhere to that...
@AlloffroadAu4 жыл бұрын
the Toyota has a few curves in but yes that may make a difference but in saying that once the panels are warm they seem to form quite well to any shape
@plrooks Жыл бұрын
Have you left the panels on at 100-110km/hr?
@AlloffroadAu Жыл бұрын
I have at 100km no issue, but a friend who has on a Y62 lost some panels. Also their material is already breaking after less than a year of use

They are only for use in between 10 to 30 degs. So what's the point that's most of winter and summer in SA.

I used them at well above 30c on Fraser but have not tried them al low temps.

That sand will definitely erode the paint. Why not just wrap that portion?
@AlloffroadAu4 жыл бұрын
yea would bee keen to see how a wrap really hold up with that kind of driving I do?

@@AlloffroadAu Should be pretty tough though probably not as tough as the magnets but without the problems the magnets have.

I wonder if you can use some sort or tape clear or otherwise around the edges... that way in theory sand and dust shouldn't be able to penetrate through?
@AlloffroadAu4 жыл бұрын
hm that would complicate things and i'm not sure how the residue of the tape would be removed from the paint..
I think these are a solution looking for a problem. I reckon sand will get between them and fuck up your paint.
@AlloffroadAu4 жыл бұрын
as long as you use them as instructed and check every few days and remove and clean when required they will do the job well. All depends on how much effort you are willing to put in to protect your paint.
