Allotment Life | Tackling The Plot | Preparing The Ground

More covering and preparing for spring. The days are getting colder and I really needed to get the final bits of the plot covered and prepped ready for Spring.
As it’s gets colder, there are less ground jobs to do, but I’ve still got quite a few jobs that need doing.

How exciting to get stuck in. Thanks for watching. I recommend my Tackling The Plot and Transforming The Plot series for ideas, but hopefully all videos will give you ideas of what to do. My plot was completely overgrown and un-useable when I took it over and it’s been a long hard road, but it’s nearly how I want it to be. Don’t give up, it’s hard work, but so worth it.

That’s the plan. I used it a bit at the start when I first got the plot, but this is a much bigger area.

Yes, I couldn’t get much wood without nails in. Definitely don’t want an accident!

First off excellent Mark you tipped 100 subs keep going 👍. Great idea about the tarps and yep if it kills off the weeds then it’s a bonus come spring. That’s me the clod I’m always tripping or banging my head 😂😂. Spring will be a very exciting time and I for one can’t wait. Have a super week keep warm and stay safe 🎄🧑‍🎄⛄️👍

Put cardboard and woodchips around the fruit bushes........keep down weeds and will also rot down.

Thanks for suggestion. I’ve been collecting cardboard, as I’ll be doing some no dig beds, but didn’t think about use it around the tree.

That might be foxes digging where the rhubarb was. Hopefully not moles.

In freezing weather I would suggest you avoid walking on the beds

There’s no actual beds at the moment. The covering is to kill the weeds/grass etc so next year I can make the beds. I only have 2 working beds, which aren’t covered.
