That's how it should work. When I did it, the clip for the UV housing flew off when I opened it. There's only tiny plastic lugs holding it in. Removed the cylinder, checked the UV as in the instructions, then reassembled as shown here. Very difficult to engage the catch because it's so flimsy. Put the unit back in the pond and there were huge bubbles as sank. Switched on the power and it blew the fuse, because the UV housing was now full of water. I've tried lubricating the seals and it works for about 15 minutes before blowing the fuse again. Basically a heap of junk which is electrically unsafe.

Just order bulb from Allpondsolutions. See my video for testing. Or just look at night and if you don't see light from little observation window then it is not working

Had the pump for over a year now with no problems but when washing out the filter do I wash all the dirty water from the pump as well.? I've read that it's important to maintain the biological balance inside the stones?

Hi, I too would follow those basic principles. However, with the size of the tray containing the bio filter elements I don't think you'll have and noticeable difference by flushing it out. That said only use rain water and not tab. Same goes for filter washing. I have a top bond that I have a large number of stones in it, that I use as a secondary biological filter. Best regards

I have this pump. Its been working in my pond for the last few months but just stopped working today. I've checked the plug outlet works still changed, changed the fuse in the plug but nothing. Any ideas? TIA

If it is less than a year old, All Pond Solutions will gladly replace it I'd say. It is strange as it is a very reliable pump in general. If you did take it apart just make sure the microswitch inside is closed. Watch my video on taking it apart. Sorry I can't help you more

why the quick release hose attachment, to drain pond?

Absolutely. I disconnect waterfall hose and connect to drain hose when cleaning out the pond.
