Sorry to hear about your Job loss Jim. Terrible time of year for it to happen. Not that there is a good time for it. You make a good point about the technology. It is evolving so fast that it is hard to know if it makes sense to buy now or wait for something better. Only good thing about it is, the older tech tends to get cheaper when new tech is released. Thank you for this video 🥰👏🏼👍🏼 Wow, I just purchased a foldable 200w solar panel with a 1000w powerbank... I wished you had done this review several months ago, I would have purchased through that company...the price for the flexible 100 watt is decent. Will check out the company after your review.

The irony is I made the video last summer but almost forgot to post it. Sorry about that

Years ago when I purchased my rooftop solar panel the company told me that it would be a Wise idea to get a regulator. This also prevents overcharging your batteries as well as damage to the Panels. I was told that anything over 20 watts should have a regulator. You brought up a Good Point with the fuse though, and my question is, don't the companies making the panels already add a fuse into the setup?
@MarkYoungBushcraft7 күн бұрын
I can only assume what they meant by regulator is a charge controller with MPPT (maximum power point tracking). All better power stations have that built it. It is necessary to have one if you are charging, say a 12V lithium battery. I agree they should have at least more information about the importance of a fuse. The fuse is more about protecting the panels than your power station as they have their own protections Thanks for commenting

When purchasing the 'Y' connectors to plug in 2 panels, get the 10ga. Anything smaller is not good. I have a smaller guage, and I stick with 10.

Good advice, I will keep that in mind. Thanks for the comment.

Mark, I love your reviews. I have a recommendation for you. Have you ever considered reviewing the global long distance LTE walkie talkies? They look to good to be true. In any case thanks for what you do and Merry Christmas.

I still find it interesting that we can produce electricity from a solar panel. Even with my smaller solar panels, I try to be careful with charging my IPhone or tablets directly with the panels. I’ve been charging them with a power bank, then charging the power bank the panels. ✌️🇺🇸🇨🇦✌️

Right on. I have an older Anker solar panel I would charge my phone with but for the rest, I charge my power banks and use them to charge everything else. Thanks for commenting

@@MarkYoungBushcraft - thanks much, Mark - I haven't used it with the solar panel that I bought along with it, yet, just used it via wall plug-in and charging phone, iPad and a couple of gadgets a few times to see how it works - will still need to do a car camping and figuring out the connecting and get familiar with the specs and all ... your videos are a good learning-curve help - thanks muchly !

With the sale price on right now it’s pretty interesting. Unfortunately I lost my job a couple months before Christmas, so not for me. Elon will probably be coming out with a new single crystal battery, hopefully soon, that will last 25 times more charging cycles than current ones do. So the batteries will last longer than the car. If it can be done affordably it’ll sure help with this stuff too.

@ Thanks Mark. I’ve been under a lot of stress, and sorry about coming down hard on you before. I still think you could do a little more before giving a good review on something that could get someone in a lot of trouble, but I was rude and said some other stuff I know was wrong. I hope you guys have an absolutely wonderful Christmas

But will it do anything about the horseflies and mosquitoes in Kouchibouguac? We have pretty much the same use case as you for car camping (200W in panels, battery bank, refrigerator) in the Maritimes. I normally take 2 x 100W rigid panels, but I was considering this exact panel to attach semi-permanently to the top of my cargo carrier (and deploy an extra 100W only when needed). Do you think it's rugged enough to leave up there for 3 seasons (in NS)? We car camp a lot in the winter too, but I would probably remove it for that season.
@MarkYoungBushcraft2 күн бұрын
Oh the deer flies and mosquitoes. I had almost gotten over the trauma😂. Maybe I could use the panels to power a bug zapper. Yes, these are definitely rugged enough to leave mounted and exposed to the weather, likely all four seasons. Hope this helps

In series increases voltage . In parallel increases wattage
@MarkYoungBushcraft10 күн бұрын
Yes, is that not what I said? Thanks for commenting
@sarniaresident583310 күн бұрын
Mark, you were actually right… WATTAGE remains the same either way, therefore they’re 100 WATTS. Parallel increases CURRENT V x A = W (or VA) Simply… voltage IS EMF (the force or “pressure”) Multiplied by current in AMPS are the flow and the amount of electrons which is what “moves” = WATTS, the final units used to indicate POWER. Note: You can manipulate the formula if you have any 2 out of the 3 values *this will be on Monday’s test 🤣

I like your videos...but I am finding you tend to give positive reviews to these companies sending you free stuff...I think a grain of salt must be taken with most of your videos. Just being honest. To hear you complain about what this company was going to send you for free....sorry man....that's a bit annoying.
