A challenge I have with real estate, is that I become emotionally attached and tend to never let it go. Now, I’m not talking about rental properties which I couldn’t wait to dump when the time seemed right. But I have invested in land with recreational value that has increased substantially in value, but I’m reluctant to let it go. So for my personality type, I need to not fool myself that these are investments for financial return, but that they are investments for other reasons.

If you can do bonus hunting with the emergency fund, it should be a lot easier to have a larger EF. Especially if you can beat the market.

Don't agree with the S&P 500 breaking the rule of 5%. The percentage any one stock is of the S&P changes daily based on market cap, so my percentage is not fixed as if I had a single stock in my brokerage account. I also dont have to rebalance, the fund naturally does it for me with miniscule tax consequences versus rebalancing a brokerage account. Asset location plays a big role in this and exposure without intervention also plays a role for me, aka if something changes in the market do I have to take action or do fund managers?
