Last time we played i had my players visit a powerful wizard that had setup a magnificent mansion. The players let the 'police' right to the mansion as the wizard was wanted for something. The players thought of the idea to put their portable hole up against a table and hold the table against the door. Every npc getting into the door would end up in a black void with paper but were unable to get into the mansion. They bought the wizard enough time to cast a teleportation spell so they would be able to get out of the place. Doing this made it so the whole party basically skipped an arc. I love them for it. They are playing an evil gestalt campaign and i told them, no murderhobo and no chaotic stupid plz, they did not disappoint

@Robert nah im just suprised the dm or either of the other players havnt said anything yet. I havnt always been the best player. Used to be that "guy" in one campaign and the one i was in after that i accidentally became that guy without realizing it. I did alot of things im not proud of but i like to think ive become better.

This story is a good example for all new and potential home brew campaign GMs. Make your world up to the point the players start for where players can interact. You important NPCs? Those are your GM PCs. Have a goal vs a plan. That way you are not locked down. Players should never be able to derail because they are choosing their path. Only derail if railroaded. The only way a player can 'derail' is by acting outside of the scope and intent of the campaign that was discussed before session 0 kicks off.
