This installation is directly onto the paving slab base, should a damp proof membrane be used or not.

Hi there im looking for advice I'm recently building one of these came from Estonia without intructions on left double glazed window and middle 2 outward doors and on right singke glazed window !my problem is the left side has not dropped have big gap above double window and doors ?right single window perfect but not sure what ive done wrong?? 3:47 im not a joiner unfortunately

Your supposed to leave a gap in between each floor board to allow for expansion

If you build on grass how would you put down the membrane before using floor insulation?

You would assumedly be using a timber framed system with posts? In which case you could overboard the frame before putting the building on top , giving you a Deck to put the insulation on. Failing that, you could use some batten lats fixed to the side of your timber frame to suspend your insulation off the ground.

Presumably the concrete slabs were prepared for you by the purchaser, hence the discrepancies in the ground level?

Hi Jane, i think the customer had an old shed there originally. It's always worth getting the base right, then you'll never have any issues with doors and windows not opening correctly, or uneven settlement.

Can you offer a GRP roof option rather than a rubber sheet? It would just give you that extra level of quality for not much more expense.

It’s certainly possible yes. I’m a huge fan of rubber if I’m honest, but definitely worth looking into .

@@allthingsgardenbuildings Small and furries like to chew rubber in the same way that they do with PVC insulation. They don't do it so much with set fibreglass.

Two questions...Can you set the insulation directly on a concrete slab? How would you anchor the cabin to a concrete slab? Thank you

Hi MPH06 , We'd usually use a damp proof membrane underneath. Its good practise, although many would argue it isnt needed, as the insulation cut tight to the joists acts as a vapour barrier. If it was my own project, it'd be permiter joists down, dpm so it rises up the sides internally, floor joists on top, insulation between joists, then floorboards on top. @@allthingsgardenbuildings not bought one yet as I’m getting a few mixed reviews on their customer service not being all that good if there is a problem. Have you found their log cabins to be good quality? On one of your videos you mentioned threaded studding being fitted to the corners of the cabin, is that generally on the larger cabins? On the concrete slab do you recommend Visqueen going down prior to the timber base frame? Sorry for the random questions 🙄😂 Thanks

At 7:35 I noticed you cut part of the end off but did you glue the piece back in rather than it just sitting there?

If its missing, or has come off, we glue clamp and put it in higher up to give it time to dry

What's the bar way to anchor a TV bracket to one of these wooden cabins?

Hi Simon, You can bolt right through if its a really heavy TV, just try and fix to one log only, not over two, as this will prevent the cabin from natural movement. If its a fairly modern TV, they don't often weigh too much, so you can fix with coach bolts just under the thickness of your cabins wall logs.
