Maybe the subtle external rotation as his movement starts helps him feel like he's generating more force?
@utubeskreename95165 жыл бұрын
The external rotation of the femur is actually a function of the gluteus medius and (to a lesser extent gluteus maximus). Probably a mind-muscle connection queue he's found works for him in making sure they're firing maximally.

Great video. It is so much beneficial for me to see the comparison between two world class weightlifters, especially the last slow-mo. Lu has longer torso and femur, his position is constantly more upright compared to Mohamed who uses more leverage since he has longer legs and shorter torso (also longer arms). You can see examples of extreme upright position from Asian weightlifters (such as Tian Tao's clean), while you can find more leverage usage from some European weightlifters. As a person who has Lu's body type, I need to be working on lower back and legs (front squats) a lot, otherwise my back and oblique muscles would get too much pressure. If you want to be better at weightlifting, you need to study your body type first and practice accordingly.
