I'm on my weight loss journey and I found I NEED to celebrate the small wins! I'm 10 lbs down (of 30), and sometimes I only see it as 20 to go and not that I accomplished 10 lbs down through diet and exercise! Thank you for this! :)

That's so relatable. I have lost the same amount of weight and I was like I have to lose this much more weight to feel better but now I am so proud of myself for achieving this. All the best for your journey.

My own version of the 80 year old me conversations is like always weighing in on the life I want for myself versus my fears When I want to hide out of fear and avoid doing the things I want to do to grow and be better , I look at 80 year old me and I immediately get reminded to choose between the fear of regret and the fear of failure Of course, regret always wins🙂 I did need this video , Thank you

Needed this. July was full of ups and downs. I quit my first job in a month (and it’s crazy but I felt exhausted after the first month itself) and now going I’m going to college to get my Masters degree. Hoping for the best and hoping to enjoy life along the way!💕 P.S. I’m a small KZbinr and you’ve been an inspiration through a lot xx

If I thought that Kalyn had a camera in my house I I’m 100% sure now, I was definitely struggling with that now because I feel like my KZbin channel wasn’t growing at the pace that I wanted to, but you calmed me down and you I thought you should now that I definitely consider you my friend because you always tell me what I need to hear with your videos❤️ thank you, all the love 💕

I think a good example of celebrating small wins is when you celebrate each and every birthday rather than every massive one. Or in the first year of a relationship is celebrating the months and then the years. celebrating every little milestone and not just the huge ones

Kalyn, I highly recommend you read the book The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business by Charles Duhigg. I learned so much about how habits drive our life, and why certain habits are hard to replace. It's a bit scientificy at first, but I really enjoyed learning about why we do certain things without effort on a daily, and other things take way longer, and I think you will too. One thing I can relate to your video today is that in learning new habits, we do have to provide small celebrations. This is because of a habit loop. Something triggers us to do the habit, we do the action, and afterwards, we get a reward. It becomes a continuous cycle called the habit loop. The book explains it further.

This was great! But I have a question, sometimes I can't differentiate between a reward and a non urgent goal or a goal of no priority for example I have exams so I must study but also I have a long term goal of writing a novel or keeping myself fit and flexible but those can wait now. So if I want to put them in my to do list..shall I put them as a reward of studying or shall I put them as a goal that needs a reward itself!? O.o seems a stupid question but even working out sounds so cool when It distract me from studying xD
@Blueyez3695 жыл бұрын
Maybe right now those things are rewards, but maybe once your exams are done they might shift. I think rewards are whatever gives us a sense of joy, so if sitting down to write a bit of your novel after studying for a few hours gives you joy then it's a reward. As long as those things don't start to burn you out by overwhelming you, then it's really up to you to decide if they feel like a reward.
@lovelydream8245 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I must try to apply your advice and test how it feels doing them with studying.they bring joy but consume energy and take much space in my brain as well. I like your definition of reward though so helpful! Thanks a lot!
