Thanks for watching and sorry for the long speech at the end! I didn't mean it negatively towards any other creators, the TLDR version is, I hope that viewers could find these videos valuable (entertaining, useful, whatever) enough to THEM that they might consider supporting solely because of that. See you all in the next one! PS. If you're wondering about the snowfall, these videos are currently around 2 months behind real time.

I feel the same way. 80% of these channles use sex, deceit and constantly cry about something broken over and over to get money. They spend weeks out on the water only to have a 10 minute video or the put an exciting title only for the last 2 minutes to be what the title says. I started ignoring or hitting the not recommend the channel or have even reported as misleading. Those reasons are why i don't subscribe to any channels anymore. Your videos seemed to be down to earth and real, which i have only come across a few like yours. ❤

have you considered creating storyline for a video where the climax and resolution are split into a second video posted only for patreon subscribers to drive more patrons? would that provide enough incremental value for you to justify asking viewers to join patreon for you?

@@TA-bs1hr I hate to call them by name, but one is trying to convert a sunken trawler into an Antarctic expedition boat. They have nothing but troubles either knew problems with the boat, pets are sick, or medical issues. They decided 2 years past the splash date that the engine was crap. Did a go fund me raised $30,000 which would have bought a new engine then bought an old engine to rebuild and are spending the money elsewhere. Still no new splash date as they keep changing things.

I follow about 30-40 sailing channels or so and recognise what you are saying. You always here the phrase "support us, so we can continue doing videos" while it actually is "we need money to keep on living like this" even they don't necessarily need money. Some are more aggressive (begging) than others. I think in the end it's for the viewer to decide what they do and whether they support financially or not just like you said. But it is a bit murican thing just like tipping;) Terveisia Belgiasta...Peramerella on viimein jäät sulanneet niin pääsee kohta pääsee seilaamaan;)

I like your fair commentary on the money circumstances. You asked what we want to see. I would like to see more precise tips and video covering of the navigational and boat maintenance details from the cold climate. More informations like it was: if you let too much snow on the boat, it could sink you through hoses. Is there some problems with diesel and engine? What do you think about navigation on the cold waters with electric engine like some vlogers do. How much fuel do you need and have when go north? What kind of sea floor is in the anchoragrs you visit? How do you manage enough electric power? Maybe you mentioned that before, but tip oriented discourse is what i prefere.

There must be endlsss hardships sailing in that environment but you never capitalize on it, you take nothing from the beauty of the places you go, so great respect to you for that. Watching you set up the stove pipe. Reminded me of back in 1975 we were night sailing off the west coast of Vancouver Island. It was around dinner time, so we were cooking. The stove pipe cleared the boom in normal conditions. For a reason I can't remember we had to jive very suddenly. So, while jiving the boom dropped and as it came across it hit and knocked of the stove pipe off. Then the cabin started to fill with smoke. It was pretty funny at the time.

Hi - I’m building a small sailboat - and trying to buy a livaboard sailboat to retire to . I have watched a lot of channels and certain ones make me feel uneasy ( no names ) it’s about being genuine- TV stars get lots of money , same thing? I don’t know. I don’t give money to people who seen very well set up and push the advertising and patreon and PayPal. I am retired and have saved for many years to buy a boat. So love your channel, I’m learning from your videos , keep them coming .

In answer to your musings several things are of real interest to me. I mainly follow channels such as yours because I am interested in sailing, but also that you have set yourself a pathway in life that is VERY different from most, and this pathway is extremely interesting. I’m assuming, possibly incorrectly, that whilst you have a lovely yacht, you have to finance it is some way or another. In order to to this you either have to get a job that is digitally based in some way or another, or retire to the ski fields to instruct others etc. I’m not in a position to be able to be a financial supporter via Patreon and I’m betting that most people would be in this position and so you are reliant on people with flipping great wads of cash who want to support the kind of lifestyle you’ve chosen. I think this is an amazing way to pursue those interests and activities that both your partner and you want to do. So I wouldn’t be too concerned about how you finance your ride since in real terms those who pay gain nothing but the pleasure of following you both, and donate money because they have spare dosh. I’d be really interested to know how long it’s taken you to build up a financial support structure. As an artist I pay for a website that has been active for three years now and seems to attract to interest even though by following me punters would gain an artwork if they like what they see. So keep enjoying your blessed life style and my hope is that people one way or another will contribute financially to allow you to continue. RESPECT!
