So many talented young musicians out there, and all we gonna hear on the stations is the mainstream bullshit

WNCW Spindale N.C. Public radio is the best radio station in the world. It plays young new musicians no matter the genre . They play blues to bluegrass. Rap to metal and a lot of local music. It’s right next to Asheville N.C. Which is like a smaller Austin TX so they get great musicians that go to Asheville to play music in their studio to promote their music.

Unfortunately,thats pretty much the way it's always been.I'm 66 and I've been listening to music since I was 3.Go figure.I have to say the young lady and band are a joy to listen to and are extremely talented.l'm glad to know the music will live on after I'm gone.

Sad. There are loads of decent musicians playing decent songs to sparse audiences while the media "bigs up" celebrity mime artists who sell their product by the ship load and are selling out arenas and stadiums.

She started slow with some Delta stuff on the electric and then took off into wild Texas Blues à la SRV. Nice to know the younger generation is keeping the blues alive.

do you like Eric Gales?
@rumpledskin79713 жыл бұрын
@@robpattison6606 Haven't really heard him. In Blues, I listen to John Mayall, BB King, SRV, Hendrix, Clapton, Freddie King, Albert King, Albert Collins, Buddy Guy, ZZ Top, Elmore James, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and a lot of the Chicago school. Don't really listen much to contemporary blues artistes except Kenny Wayne Shephard. Guitarists like Joe Bonamassa and Christone "Kingfish" Ingram are way too flashy for my taste -- it's almost like heavy metal shredding and I find the blues feel/essence missing, Sorry but I'm a little old school so far as the blues is concerned.
@@rumpledskin7971 yeah , he’s kinda in that “ shredding “ blues style you said you weren’t fond of . I jus find his passion inspiring. this dewd is more traditional. I’m into slide players like Ry , Johnny, Lowell , Duane , Sonny Landreth etc .. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKvKf2l4pcSUfq8

Could you imagine if Howlin Wolf Muddy Waters Lightnin Hopkins and John Lee Hooker could come back to life and see that performance. I know they would be proud that the musical Legacy they left us is still being carried on today. The future of the Blues is in good hands

James Brown, just seems a little strange that most of the people I see and hear playing the blues now seem to be white. This is no way a criticism, just a reflection that this fantastic genre of music (best there is IMO) may be taking a different direction. Which is great. So let’s not hear any crap about cultural misappropriation. There has always been a white blues music heard in folk, especially from Europe ( e.g. fado), and country music. But it was the style that dare not speak its name - now we have modern ‘electric blues’ being taken forward by a new generation of brilliant musicians. And I think you are so right when you refer to the absolute greats, they would be blown away with it!

You don't know much about SRV then. Nothing even remotely close to an SRV vibe. She has her own awesome vibe . Not comparable to SRV.
@rossvaneldik35623 жыл бұрын
@@donniefisk2252 Mainstream people hear blues and can only reference SRV because he's the only blues artist that they know anything about. They're, sadly, musically illiterate.
@rossvaneldik35623 жыл бұрын
@Topjunkie No, Marcus King doesn't play 'like' SRV at all, really. Personally, I don't think he sings like Joplin, either. Marcus is a phenomenal singer and guitar player, in his own right. Marcus plays, sings, and sounds like Marcus King. It's fine if you want to suggest other blues or rock n' roll artists to listen to, but the comparisons are unwarranted and unnecessary, especially the SRV ones.
@rossvaneldik35623 жыл бұрын
@Topjunkie If you're proposing that we should make better suggestions of SRV influenced players, my input would be Phillip Sayce.
@rossvaneldik35623 жыл бұрын
@Topjunkie Sooo....You're here to police others about not policing others?? Right...got it. (Roll my eyes) It's not my opinion that Marcus King doesn't sound much like SRV. It IS a fact. At least with my suggestion of Phillip Sayce, the influence is recognizable. If your ears hear SRV in Marcus King's playing, you should either get your ears checked or blues/rock music all sounds relatively the same to you. I'd say that Marcus King and Warren Haynes are more alike, and I'd be right!
