Felix is a wonderful role model on AND off the track. She decided not to pursue a college track career in order to go pro. Still, while traveling the globe, competing and practicing at the world class level, she pursued her college education and attained her degree in education.

The reason why i respect felix is that she is very versatile with the sport.(100m,200m,400m,4*100m and 4*400)and really feels good on the track.She getting an olympic gold medal is very possible but i doubt if VCB would ever be a world champion

haha. I totally forgot about this. I love my track and field. I, like most people, knew that great things were in store for Felix. I'm so excited by what she's gonna do at these games within the next few days. (but I think I need to modify her 200 time. I think she'll run a bit faster than that 21.6 in the 200 final. )
@CHEETAH69
@CHEETAH69 15 жыл бұрын
I think I share the same high expectations as you. I miss the days when Americans were competing hard for the top spots.From Evelyn, to flojo, to gwen and gail to Marion. Allyson could dominate in the same way that they all did. I just think with time it'll come. I know she can go low 49's - this year! As far as Sanya, she can go low 48. But she just needs to get that aggressiveness back. She's a bit timid now during the first 200 because of losses at the Games. She just relies on her finish.

@BryanDiGeneral ,after 2008 final allyson is now stronger cuz VCB can not jump on her in major finals again.it is true VCB has a good start and best curve but you also have to remember that allyson felix is so strong in the final stages of a race with her great relaxation and endurance.and also VCB will have a lot of tough doings with Jeter in the 100m before even coming into the 200m with felix.

I could see Felix maybe bringing her 100 time down to maybe a high 10.8. And in the 200, maybe a 21.6. She's still young and like Ottey, Torrence and even Flojo proved, it's that the late 20's and early 30's seem to be when peak condition is reached.

Allysin doesn't anchor the 4X1, she runs the 4X4. And for the 4X1, Jamaica has Fraser and Stewart, the two fastest women in the world, and Campbell-Brown and Aleen Bailey. All four women reached the finals of the women's 100m, meaning they are the best 4X1 team out right now. The only thing they have to work on is passing the baton and the rest is history.

Sorry to disappoint, but Allyson is on the 4X1 team and it would only make sense to have her on the second or anchor legs. You may THINK that Jamaica has the best 4X1 team but, its going to come down to the handoffs. If the two teams are even coming into the final leg and, Felix is on the anchor for the US, you can bet that no one will beat her in that last 100 meters. With that running start, she will crush anyone she faces on that leg. Bank on it.

I don't know, Kmb9624, I know Bobby kersee is the man. I mean look what he did for Gail, Flojo, JJk and the whole UCLA women's team in the 80's. I'm sure Felix's lack of explosiveness isn't because she hasn't been trained properly. She's a taller, lankier athlete. It's gonna be harder for someone with that body type to be able to maneuver that initial first curve like VCB or Jeter does. But you're right about Marita's and Jarmila's records needing to be stricken from the books.

You don't know what Fraser is capable of. Whether she slowed down or not, her overall performance was good enough to clock 10.73-- the fastest of any "clean" athlete. All she would have to do is work on her endurance a little bit, and she may be even greater than Stewart-- and Felix.

I'm not accusing anybody of anything but campbell brown's time in 2007 was 22.34 then a year later in Beijing it was 21.74, then in 2009 back to 22.35.. the wild inconsistencies....

From all of those top world athletes, Felix was the only one to be part of the project Believe, where she was available to be tested more times and more frequently. She has never been involved in any scandal. About Campbell Brown and Fraser Pryce, the first was banned in 2013 and the second was banned in 2010.
@RelicHunter321
@RelicHunter321 15 жыл бұрын
It doesn't matter if you get caught towards the end or where ever. Some people are strong finishers, some are strong starters. Fraser is a strong starter, and her starts enable her to win all of her races. If anything, Stewart is lacking, because she has poor start. Her slow starts has cost her the World title and the Olympic title. How do you know that Felix will improve. How certain are you? How certain are you that Fraser won't develop strength in 200m.

@stevie586 Dont be decieved by the light body build of Allyson bcos she tremendously powerful.The only thing that seperates her from other athletes is that Felix has got an endurance and relaxation technigue which the rest do not have, and she runs the final 100 of a 200 better than anyone else in the world.Vcb is the only one who has got an antidote to Felix and that is getting out fast and leading on the curve.that is the only way u can beat felix

Also, if you notice, Felix doesn't even seem that happy when she won...'cuz she knows that the Olympics are far more important. This championship simply warms them up the year before and after the Olympics. At next Olympics, if not Campbell, then another Jamaican will emerge. And y'all better pray that Shelly Ann Fraser doesn't start doing 200m. She's already the fastest woman in history over 100m (not counting Marion Jones and Flo Jo, cuz they used drugs).

@stevie586
@stevie586 13 жыл бұрын
@MrFlexybee Agreed! Jeter does not have the skill. She has a higher top speed than VCB and Felix, and she would have caught and passed VCB if she used skill instead of raw power...that's what caused her to run out of fuel. I think the 200 is Jeter's race; she has got the perfect make-up for a start 200 runner, but, she needs to first learn to run the event. Felix does have an amazing stride, and I think if she bulked up w/muscle and lifted more, she'd be unstoppable.
@wexlerchick
@wexlerchick 15 жыл бұрын
How do you know that Allyson won't improve? With the way Shelly-Ann AND Kerron keep getting beat by Carmelita Jeter, neither should be thinking about the 200m. Carmelita is world leading now! USA TO DI WORLD!!!
@stevie586
@stevie586 13 жыл бұрын
@MrFlexybee Oh, I completely agree with you, trust me. In stating her stride is what does this; I was factoring all that goes into the equation. She wouldn't have such a wonderful stride, etc., in such a race if she weren't brilliant technically. Also, you're right, she is so absolutely relaxed, w/great endurance. I think Jeter has more ability to beat Felix in the end, BUT, Jeter does not have Felix's endurance & experience. W/training, Jeter outpowers and could out-stride in the end.
@nitrousdaking
@nitrousdaking 15 жыл бұрын
Am I the only one who feels VC should have just focused on the 200 instead of doing the double. Lets face it Kerron and shelly are miles ahead of her in the 100m and I don't see the gap closing. Remember at beijing when she only ran 200m she was beasting and setting a new PB that was the VC I was expecting at Berlin but i think she was really fatigued after the 100m. I'm not saying she would have beat Felix but the race would definitely be much closer than what we saw in this video.

@stevie586 Well Jeter can do better and i noticed in Daegu that Jeter do not have the endurance and experience that is VCB beat to the finish line.What surprises me is that Allyson has got longer legs which can enhance her to out stride or over stride just like Flo Jo did in most of her races.With her long legs n strides if Allyson decides to do a lot of knee lift she might get closer to the record.

@iluve2run No, her technique was near-flawless. The stride is the reason she was able to pull away from VCB. I mean, this is VCB, here...not come little girl in band camp, and we know VCB has tons more power than Felix. Felix ran a brilliant race and that stride is what really moved her to Victory...
@Winston408
@Winston408 13 жыл бұрын
@iluve2run I think this is acceptable for a sprinter, it's very inefficient, so it is bad form for a distance runner, but when you're a sprinter, such a short race, I guess you can provide enough power to make up for it, just me theorizing, could be totally wrong.

Veronica doesn't do 400m, nor does she try to do it. So that comment is moot. The fact is that Veronica Campbell is a 2x Olympic Champion, and Felix is not. Even if she wins next Olympics (which I HIGHLY doubt she will), there is no way she is going to win the next Olympics after that. In the end, she won't be an Olympic champion two times over like VCB.

History has shown that Felix was the 200 olympic champion in 2012 and from a long distance. Felix won 3 gold medals in a single olympic championship. Felix has still been on the track with the 200 Diamond trophy in 2014, 2015, world champion in 400(2015), a silver and two gold medals in the olympic games in Rio and so much more. Campbell Brown is no where since her bronze in 100(2012) and her bronze in 200(2015). Campbell Brown is one of the best 200 sprinters for sure, but she is not over Felix. Felix Even has a faster personal best over the 200.

@MrFlexybee I honestly respect Allyson to the fullest, quite a talent in the sport. However, when you're trying to demeanor VCB you insult sports intellegence! VCB, at 15, was already an Olympic silver medalist in the womens 4x100m against the lights of Chryste Gaines,Torri Edwards, Nanceen Perry, Passion Richardson, and then drug induced Marion Jones in the pool of athletes! Further more, Veronica has a World title at every level of athletics being it the world youths, world juniors, & worlds!

USA to the world, my ass. Jamaica still leads track and field. Drugged up Jeter can run 5.67 for all we care. She still doesn't have either the World title or the Olympic title, and that's worth more than anything. Look at Asafa: he kept breaking world records, but he's never been champion. And his times seem like nothing. Times come and go, records are broken. But the Jamaican will always be the 2008 Olympic champion over 100m, and the World Champion over 100. Shake your ass to that.
@wexlerchick
@wexlerchick 15 жыл бұрын
Typical comment from you. Why wouldn't she be happy? She's the only track athlete ever, man or woman, American or not to win 3 consecutive world titles at 200meters, maybe she didn't look ''happy'' because she's tired of beating Veronica Campbell and everyone else over and over again. But make no mistake about it, it's almost 2010 and in 2012 she's gonna smoke the whole field in London. MARK MY WORDS.
@wexlerchick
@wexlerchick 15 жыл бұрын
Oh don't get so angry. You already know the U.S dominataes Track & FIELD. Now you're accusing Carmelita of drug use, just because someone has finally broken the 10.7 barrier? I bet if it was one of the Jamaicans who broke the barrier you'd be going on about it. Carmelita was owning Shelly-Ann and Krron in plenty of meets before worlds anyways, don't get mad because she's completely killing them now.

It doesn't matter how many times Jamaica won the 4X1 in history. I said that Jamaica is the nation that is CURRENTLY dominating Track. Yes, USA won the events no one cared about, cuz they entered every category. But for the more popular ones, and the ones that test the best at sprinting, Jamaica wins. Felix even said that she would give up her World medals for even one of Veronica's golds. And it's Melaine Walker>>>Lashinda. Melaine has the 2nd fastest time in history, and both titles. Fool.
@wexlerchick
@wexlerchick 15 жыл бұрын
We won events no one cared about? Which you mean longer distances, right? But didn't you just brag about Melaine Walker's 400mH? No one must've cared about that then. How can Jamaica dominate track if they aren't consistent on anything else past the 100 and 4x100 on the men's side? And since you like to bring steroids into things, I know Bolt is juiced. We dominate track because we win the 200 and everything up, as well as field events not Jamaica.

I definitely feel as though Allyson is a great 3-sprint talent. But I don't think we're gonna see 100 or 400 times from her like we saw in Koch. Koch was a horse. She was also on drugs. It will be a long while before a woman goes under 48. And though Felix is fast, I don't think she'll be able to develop the strength and short sprint explosiveness to do what the east german did in the 400 and 100 respectively.

Age doesn't matter. Campbell massacred Felix in both Olympics. When history is written, Campbell will be one of only two females to ever win two successive Olympic Gold medals in 200ms, and was also the World 100m champion at the same time. She scored the 7th fastest time in history over 200m. She missed 6 weeks of training due to injuries, and that's the only reason Felix won. Also, Felix came out fresh, as this is her first event. Campbell has been running heats and finals for 100 AND 200m.

Well, history has shown that Felix is still on the track and Campbell is no where since her bronze in 100(2012) and bronze in 200(2015). Compared with Felix, who won the 200 Diamond trophy in 2014, 2015, world champion in 400 in 2015, 2 gold medals and 1 silver in the olimpics(2016) and so much more. Campbell Brown is sure one of the best 200 sprinters but Felix is over Campbell Brown. More medals and a faster personal best.
