I'd hate to be a sprinter, not because I don't like sprinting, but the anxiety alone would kill me. In long distance running you can pick yourself back up, but definitely not sprinting. Hats off to these guys, they're amazing.

In my opinion the most incredible part about Bolt's run is how far in front of Tyson Gay he is. Tyson is running a 9.71, which is an absolutely astonishing time, and Bolt is still about a meter out in front of him.

His start in this race was actually the best of all. In his 2008 beijing and berlin 2009 WR runs he had phenomenal starts. He was ahead at 20m and probably even at 10m. His first 20m in beijing were even faster than here and as FAST AS BEN JOHNSONS in his 9,79s race. When Bolt was at his peak his starts were PHENOMENAL.
@ak2pacalypse
@ak2pacalypse 4 жыл бұрын
Bolt had a great start. Go to 3:31 and set the playback speed to 0.25x. He gets a great start and is already leading at 5 meters. 2009 was his fastest year because he consistently got great starts. He had an amazing start in his 200m final too.

I believe, it's not so much his stride that gets him so far ahead, but his momentum. He easily has more mass than all of them. Add that velocity, and he has enough energy to propel him further from one point. Turnover speed plus force from his leg strength, gets him that velocity. But certainly his leg length plays a factor, but I believe that physics plays a bigger role than biology.

I wonder who'd win if Tyson Gay was just as tall as Usain Bolt. Bolt has a huge advantage by being much taller.
@kerrypal3387
@kerrypal3387 10 жыл бұрын
Ryan Bailey is 6' 4" tall and he is no competition for Usain Bolt. Tyson Gay defeated Usain in the 200M in the 2007 World Championships. He defeated him in a Diamond League meet in the 100M. Usain's height advantage was not a factor on those occasions. Here is what you need to know about Usain Bolt. He won the 200 m, in a blistering junior time of 20.61s. His amazing potential as a youth caught the attention of the then world and Olympic champion Michael Johnson - In fact at age sixteen, Bolt had reached times that Johnson did not register until he was twenty, and Bolt's 200 m time was superior to Maurice Greene's season's best of that year. There is a lot of talk about drugs. Was Usain Bolt on drugs at 15 years of age?

I think you'll find scientists have actually stated that it is unusual that bolt should be so quick at his height as he is not actually the prime height for a sprinter. This is what makes a phenomenon, the ideal height according to the scientists is around 5"11 6"0

Wait a min, aren't Kenyan long distance runners, people who were slaved are short distance sprinters, due to high intense activities in slavery, if that makes sense..
@viperdude281
@viperdude281 9 жыл бұрын
Andy Whats It is clear to everyone who read this that you just pulled that right out of your ass. Even if the high physical demand of slavery is enough to contribute any significant effect to human evolution it only existed in Africa for a few hundred years, which is not nearly enough time to produce any new sort of allele contributing to sprint speed in the gene pool. Sure it is possible that the stronger and more athletic slaves could have had a higher likelihood of surviving their harsh conditions, but natural selection alone is not enough to create such a distinguished difference between sprinting speed in people of African descent and people of other descent. The only way this difference could arise is through the combination of mutation (the most important contributing factor and one which takes place over the time period of tens-hundreds of thousands of years), natural selection, and maybe even some gene flow. It is also very possible that African descendants were not even the ones who experienced the mutations needed for this difference, but rather that different lineages experienced mutation and natural selection that favored a less athletic body (this could possibly lead to better energy conservation in places that aren't filled with fast predators, like Europe).
