That girl who said that the most interesting place in Almaty is the Esentai Mall was probably born in Almaty. Many native Almaty residents don't appreciate the nature they have. From Almaty, you can reach the mountains by a regular city bus in about 20 or 30 minutes and find yourself in the wilderness. Within the city, there are many parks that resemble real forests rather than typical parks. Nearby, there are mountain lakes, canyons, waterfalls, and mountain peaks that reach 4,000 meters.

The knowledge of seven generations along the paternal line among Kazakhs is for genetic purity. Kazakhs believed that people were close relatives up to the seventh generation, and if such relatives started a family, their offspring could suffer from diseases. According to the Jeti Jarga code, which was compiled by the Kazakh Khan Kasym, the death penalty was imposed for violating the law of seven generations. As it turns out, the ancestors were right; many Muslim peoples today suffer from consanguineous marriages, leading to a high number of genetic diseases, even among our neighbors, the Uzbeks.

We also didn’t know what to expect from Kazakhstan and it wasn’t because of a lack of wanting to learn… In Europe we haven’t really heard so much about Kazakhstan or Central Asia in general. Also, what we had saw before coming were a few very different points of view so even we have been super surprised by this part of the world. The advice I’d give to you is don’t be so quick to judge.

Interesting facts about apples and Kazakhstan: There an interesting theory that the biblical lost paradise was on the territory of modern Kazakhstan. According to tradition, the forbidden fruit in paradise was apple. DNA analysis carried out by scientists in 2010 confirmed that the wild apple Malus sieversii, growing in the mountains of southern Kazakhstan, is the ancestor of almost all varieties of cultivated apple trees. These apples from Kazakhstan spread to other parts of the world through the Silk Road. In addition, the word “alma” in Kazakh language means both the name of the fruit “apple” and the prohibition “don’t take” 😄. See the book “Apples Come from Kazakhstan” by known British writer and journalist Christopher Robbins. By the way, in 2008 this book was included in the short list of the Authors Club award for the best travel book in the UK (titled “In Search of Kazakhstan”) and in the category “Best Travel Books” in the USA (titled “Apples come from Kazakhstan” ).

I don’t know why but we tend to speak in Russian to Foreigners because we think you won’t understand any Kazakh words. By the way, the tribe "Kozha" is not part of the Kazakh zhuz system. Kazakhs are divided into three zhuzes, but there are clans that do not belong to any of them. The Kozha are descendants of Arab missionaries, Sahaba (companions of the Prophet), and religious figures. Another group that is not part of the zhuzes is the "Tore" clan, descendants of Genghis Khan, who were the ruling caste until the 19th century. But up until nowadays they used to marry between each other mainly sticking up their noses thinking others are not worth to marry them. These days it's the other way around, other majority think their genes are not clean of the inter-ru marriages and try not to marry them

@@ukessex I don't know how it is for you, but in the region where I live, in the Karaganda region, tribal affiliation doesn't hold much significance except when it comes to marriage, where it's important to ensure that the seven generations of ancestors don’t overlap with the bride’s lineage. My mother is from the Tore clan, descending from Jochi, the son of Genghis Khan, and I've never heard of any issues regarding marriage between different Kazakh tribes.

One day I was working at tattoo studio and saw a tourist with back tattoo , I noticed a lot of tourists like to make them for like memories. This girl gave same vibes as you. You're invited if you want. There are 2 masters including me speaking several languages. Also I don't know if you were notified on these things but locals aren't educated enough on type of vegan food so most of the cakes including medovik are made of using eggs and milk products. Kurt is also made of milk it's like dried sour cheese,it's our national cuisine.
