I dont get why people are so negative about this game, it looks very fun. All the issues this game prople complain about P5 has and no one complained. Tutorials, characters not shutting the fuck up, not the most graphically demanding game, etc. Imo this game looks really pretty, it looks superficially similar to p5 but the lighting and shading is vastly improved. I guess that's to be expected since p5 was a ps3 game originally. I love the artstyle of this game it looks very colorful.

A lot of people bring up the dungeons but honestly it’s the sound design that kills me. Idk know how to explain it but like, the voices sound too clean and the attacks sound like they hit less harder than they should. It’s especially jarring considering smt v came out a year prior, and that games sound design was stellar

SH2 have Persona 5 battle system mixed with Strange Journey elements (Commander Skills) not Tokio Mirrage Sessions. Buffs system in SH2 is like in Persona 3-5 (dont stack, and only last 3 turns, not permament and stackable like in SMT / TMS).

Okay I have a few things that I'm not really liking. First, Ringo's voice sounds a bit more high pitched than I imagined, it kind of throws me off. I also don't know why they placed voice lines for almost everything you do in the battle menu. A few lines would be fine but damn. Also just a minor nitpick but does anyone else feel like the characters are a bit too stiff? I know it's a turn based RPG, but even SMT V and P5's models didn't feel like that.

Not interested, but it's worth pointing out that devs frequently release titles to test mechanics for their bigger IPs. Would not be surprised if there are test ideas here for Persona, SMT or whatever else Atlus makes. Now that said, from this video the only things I notice are more demons and a slightly different approach to attack animations. Dunno what the rest of the game is like.

Well Tokyo Mirage was clearly testing a LOT of things for both Persona 5 and SMT V. The UI has been re-used heavily for SMT V and quite a few ideas like the heavy use of the phone has been transferred over from Tokyo Mirage to P5. Honestly I'm fine with Soul Hackers it's a lower budget game but it has a lot of charm imho.

It's also handy to note that the games are normally under development simultaneously and aren't able to exchange mechanics and ideas. SMTIV's demons didn't make an appearance only until SMTV and SH2, and that's why there's no sign of SMTV in SH2. So I don't think SMTV's mechanics will be adopted for quite a while, at least not consistently. Soul Hackers 2 is apparently much more tactical in nature, turning ailment attacks into offensive (like SMTV Hama/Mudo) with a chance of affliction, and not using Light/Dark entirely. And stacking weaknesses per turn (and not Crits) yields a bonus attack that's based on how many demons you've stacked (up to 16.) Tandem Skills available for demons grant potential secondary effects you can use during Sabbaths, but you can only choose 1 at a time, and Commander Skills, equippable by Ringo, allows her to use 1 Commander Skill per turn at no MP cost and doesn't use up a turn, but each commander skill has a cooldown effect. There's also mystiques that I think imply that you can power up your attacks and reduce the MP cost when using them. I've seen very cheap -dyne skills. The core of the gameplay is that each party member equips a demon, in a sense powering up their stats and using their skills, and Game Overs only occur when the entire party falls. It follows a completely different format in that sense.

I remember seeing a vfx teacher talking about the games vfx and how they where underwhelming. Seeing this I can honestly see his point. And seriously? Tutorials even for the status ailments now? And Sabbath being at the end of every turn? Who thought that was a good idea to have such an animation at the end of each turn? Talk about wearing out its welcome quickly.

Love the art style but why does it feel like there are missing visual effects and sound effects? And some effects like the lightning dont have much of an impact, like it should leave a burn mark on the ground and residual voltage but theres none, so it feels like theres no effect.

I kinda like the character design, but the UI, effects though? Like what someone else has already said, looks low budget to me. Too many colors used here, and they don't even go well together. I know they're probably trying to go for the cyber-like color theme, but nope, bad choice of colors. And you would think it would has a great UI design since it's created by the same studio that made Persona series, but I guess that was a mistake. Was actually thinking to try this game, but a few minutes into your video, and I changed my mind.

But I really liking the game so far it looks very cool but I’m starting to think it reminds other JRPG Games stuff like: Nier Automata, Xenoblade, Tales, Legend Of Heroes, Persona, Legend Of Zelda and others to as well. I usually quite enjoy and look for Atlus games but I have to say that for the moment Soul hackers 2 really doesn't interest me, the game look really really outdated for a 2022 game, the character design is very ... let's say special and the combat system doesn't seem different enough from Persona to really be unique.

not really. P5 uses a lot of techniques to save on budget and resources such as using 2d backgrounds for a lot of scenes, and baked in lighting on textures. I dont mind them. Also P3 and P4 looks subsantially worse than other ps2 Megaten games like Nocturne and DDS. Atlus is always jank.

I admit I haven't played a ton of turn taking genre games, but the few I've played I've learned to despise. It just feels so restricting, I can't do anything but plan my next move while I wait for the opponent to deliver their attack. I just want the freedom to decide for myself if I want to rush at them or not.
