Just a point of clarity. Edge is Chromium based as well as many other browsers. It might be better but not by a huge amount even if they say Chromium takes out the tracking. There is a specific "ungoogled" Chromium build out there that removes all the extra stuff Google still has in the Chromium code. Opera, Brave, Safari, Puffin, and a lot more are Chromium based browsers. Firefox is probably one of the main ways to go to avoid Google.

Just to point out that you are telling a tech channel about this and he is huge Firefox advocate and wishes that more browsers based their browsers off of Firefox than Chromium. He was complaining about it being installed, not that it was chromium based or not. Taking out the bloatware was also him pointing out what they did right except they installed Chrome.
@TheWeaponshold6 ай бұрын
@@WolvenSpectre He said "Edge is better than Chrome" its not. Its just handing your data to 2 companies who will sell it instead of 1. Which is why I pointed it out.

@@TheWeaponshold They are both bad, but he is right, on the privacy front Edge is better than Chrome, not good. Trust me, we have had arguments about chrome based browsers.

Well mini PCs are popular right now thanks to 780m igpu, and with USB 4 you can plug in an external GPU. Mini PCs are super easy to transport too. Pick it up to take to a buddy's house, and plug it into their TV. I like them. Personally I snagged a slim PC with a 10th Gen Intel, and use it for emulation, batocera. I am thinking about fencing it for a 12th Gen Intel because single thread uplift was significant compared to 10th Gen. 10100 vs 12100

From the BIOS, From the BIOS How do you know these little mini PCs don't have viruses or stuff they can't detect but has lots of weird stuff sending data out from the BIOS. What I read was that there are BIOS viruses that are what caused the problem and they are not even at the OS level so they aren't detected.
@saysbadman6 ай бұрын
Well, honestly you're never safe. Even if you bar up your windows and doors a motivated person could just ram a car through your living room wall. At some point you need to rely on the common decency of people. Companies don't do stuff like including malware, adware, ransomware, or viruses because it hurts their reputation/sales. My gpd win max 2023 had a couple of hits when I first got it so I just did a fresh install of windows. I think Lenovo sold computers infected with superfish. Uefi and bios rooted viruses are a thing, but pretty rare. I don't think any manufacturer has shipped a computer with that preinstalled. You pretty much need someone that hates you, and has full access to your computer.
@iamionscat90356 ай бұрын
@@saysbadman I get all of what you are saying. We're all trying to minimize risk, you can't be perfectly safe. It's just like chemistry, you work with a ton of extremely dangerous substances and you can't be perfectly protected, you mitigate as much risk as possible. Yes, companies don't want to hurt their reputation but look at the Sacklers and oxycontin.... It's probably that they outsourced, some contractor took a shortcut and that's where the OS based viruses came from. However with the seeming explosion of all these cheap [foreign country made] mini PCs which are so cheap that they kinda made raspberry pi look less attractive I could see nation states installing something like "flame" but BIOS based. It's not even conspiracy that the CIA and NSA have always on 3G connections on all Intel chips - that's mainstream news. Snowden and Voorhees revealed even more. I'm not worried about that. I'm worried about FOREIGN governments conducting a wide ranging campaign of BIOS level espionage and the mini PC market seems ideal for it, ESPECIALLY at the price point. It is mainstream realistic to think this is a thing. To wrap it up - I want to know what we as power users can do to search for that kind of thing and eliminate it from our devices. Someone must have developed some software that can detect for that. Peace

0:55 - Hold on.. You scanned via the machine itself? With the original installation and everything? It's not like you can expect a shady company (if they are) to actually hide their shade stuff from being detectable within their own custom installation of Windows that is delivered on the machine. That would be unethical...

i would look for something loose that's rattling when diagnosing the buzz. If the rubber grommets didn't dampen the noise then the wind from the fan is possibly making another small fastener wiggle.
