You’d be surprised to find out how they treat black people and/or foreigners there. They don’t care if you’re a kid, if you have money, or whatever, the struggle is REAL. You can ask Angolans (like myself), Brazilians, Cape Verdeans and Mozambicans about the situation, they’ll spill all the beans to you. 💋!

What happens it that as soon as they notice that you have no clue of what they’re saying, they start disrespecting you in portuguese. They can call you names and even charge you more for things (especially taxi rides). The reason why Portugal isn’t portrayed as a hostile country for black people and foreigners is because of the language barrier. Massive cases of racism and intolerance that take place there have no repercussion outside the Community of Portuguese-speaking countries, but we Portuguese speakers know the situation well.
