Is there a way to make the borders work without going into Fusion? Do you have a Tutorial on alternatives? My system crashes every time I attempt to open the Fusion Page.

To save yourself even more time on fusion, you can add all your images to the timeline, do the coloured border on one, then have the "clips" panel open in the fusion pages, select all your other images, then middle mouse click on the one image with the border, and it will copy to all the selected images saving you a ton of time.

The volume of positive comments speaks volumes. Thank you, managed to make a half decent slide reel of my niece. Still struggling a bit with making the adjustment clips look good with pitch and yaw. Taken from a buried comment reply but the font is Imogen Agnes. And the comment suggesting copying and pasting the coloured border in Fusion to the rest of your images was very helpful too.

Thank you! I never would have imagined it was this easy and thus wouldn't have bothered trying because I just don't have hours to spend attempting. Seeing techniques like this with easy to understand instructions makes it possible for someone like me to pull off these cool effects. I don't understand DaVinci enough to figure these out on my own. Your videos bridge that gap between understanding the program enough to use it and understanding it enough to see an effect and know how to reproduce it. I am nowhere near the latter. lol!

For those having trouble with the color border (border in the underlay instead of the photo). Delete photo from timeline, then Go to file>project settings>image scaling and under mismatched resolution files select center crop with no resizing, add the photo again to timeline repeat the entire process and this should solve the problem.

For Image Resizing, if you're using Windows 10/11, you can download Microsoft PowerToys, a set of freeware system utilities designed for power users developed by Microsoft for use on the Windows operating system. PowerToys includes an image resizer that once launched, provides a resize option in the right-click menu of any images; there are presets (including 1920x1080) and you can also create your own custom sizes.

Great video, as always ! I learned quite a few nice tricks, "faking" the 3D environment all in the edit page. I would have copied the attributes from the first foto, to the others and to stay out of Fusion entirely, you could have applied the Colored Border (under fusion effects) directly from the edit page, or alternatively the DVE effect could also work. Then again, i am the newbie, you are the pro - so maybe I missed some point in doing it from fusion. Love your work, really inspiring !
@MrAlexTech3 жыл бұрын
Heyy! You're absolutely correct in theory, but it doesn't work 😄 That was my original plan but It's bugged out. If you try to apply the Colored Border on the Edit Page, it adds the Border to the timeline resolution, not the specific image itself. Also then because we had to go into Fusion specifically to apply the Coloured Border, the copy attributes doesn't work on the edit page! It's all very annoying ha. After discovering all this, I was planning to create my own Fusion effect that WOULD work on the Edit page but I ran out of time. It's on the list so i'll maybe try and get it done another time :)
@sebavill3 жыл бұрын
@@MrAlexTech I knew you had some point in doing it that way! I mean "usually" it seems, that you know what you are doing hehe ! I just tested it with the DVE effect from edit page, and it seems to me that you didn't choose it because of missing control of the border width ? As far as I can see, it does offer the same drop shadow options, and it can be freely transformed, but yeah...missing some control over the border size.
@MrAlexTech3 жыл бұрын
Yours can be freely transformed?! Hmmmmm!! What version of Resolve are you using? 🙂
@sebavill3 жыл бұрын
@@MrAlexTech I´m always on the latest version, when resolve tells me there an update, I update -unless we talking a beta version!¨ So...17.2.2? or something like that. By Freely transformed, I mean to say that there is position, pivot, zoom ect with keyframes also. The only thing i see missing here, to make the polaroid look, is the border size....this can´t be made thicker or thinner with the DVE effect.
@sebavill3 жыл бұрын
actually just tested the keyframes, and even thou they are there.....I cant really seem to get any animations working on the DVE effect.....maybe its bugged, maybe im doing something wrong xD
