Bought the plugin! Works great for my purposes. Would love if the template or a different one was adapted/created to allow for a video-based roll as well!

Thanks for downloading! If you want to use video you can follow the steps in my older tutorial here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZjFqHlmbq6ij8ksi=aOWsoqmx-u5KPQdU And it's possible to save that method as a preset, but you have to decide on a set number of videos/photos and build the preset around that number. The nice thing about Photo Roll is it'll work with any number of images. It uses an image sequence as the backbone to make this possible. But because image sequences are photo only, it's unfortunately not possible to create a quantity-independent template that supports video clips.

Hi Matt, it’s a brilliant template. I’ve been looking for something quite creative like this for weeks as my own slide show creations are quite simple although adequate. I’m thinking of downloading your template but have one question before I do, just in case it doesn’t work with my set up. I am using DVR Studio on a iPad Pro (M4) and also I have the free version on my desktop PC running Windows 11. Will your template run on both systems? I tend to use my iPad more than the PC version but the PC free version has more controls and displays all the various tabs/pages which are limited on the iPad. (I’ve just finally found the workaround for displaying all the pages on the iPad) Anyway do let me know if this template will run on the iPad studio version or if there are any limitations such as all the wonderful controls you demonstrated. Many thanks for great video too! Kevin (UK)
@MattMcCool05 ай бұрын
Hi Kevin, thanks for watching! I haven't had the chance to test this on an iPad, but everything should work just the same. As long as you have some way to rename your photos into a sequence (pic1, pic2, pic3, etc...) You may have to put the drfx file into your template folder as Patrick shows here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHjGpHqsea2WptUsi=hwlnsfN4NHr-srTy&t=488 And I do know this works with the free version. If you want, you can be my iPad beta tester and I can refund you right after you download it. This would be helpful to me so I can let other iPad users know what to expect. Just make sure you use your name on Kofi so I know who to refund. 😉

I purchased the template to support your efforts. It would be great if there was an option to add a frame. I’ve figured out how to do it but it would be a nice option. One question for you: in the last part of the video, you explain how you made the template. Does this mean that I should be able to replicate all the effects that you show in this section from the template’s controls? Thanks.
@MattMcCool07 ай бұрын
@@denisdion6847 it's not possible to add a frame directly inside DaVinci Resolve, but you can add a frame in your folder where the image sequence lives and re-browse for it in the inspector. I'm unsure what you mean by your second question. Which effect are you referring to? I'm just showing you how I made the template. The template has tons of flexibility. Everything you see here was made using the controls built into the template: kzbin.infoGXrfGzuyxIc?si=-Rk3jXbC-YmzuASB
@denisdion68477 ай бұрын
@@MattMcCool0 Matt, I meant that it would be nice to be able to add a border around a photo to make it look like a printed photo. I was able to do that by adding the ColoredBorder effect and a Letterbox node in between the Loader node and the Border node in your original template. However, I am not good enough in Fusion to add the interface for the ColoredBorder effect in your existing controls. What I did works well with horizontal photos but not so much for vertical ones even if I set the Letterbox node to Pan and Scan. I'd be happy to upload you a short demo and the modified setting if you give me an email address or send me an upload link. As for my question on whether the last part of your video where you show the cube function, I was simply asking because it produced a neat effect "from far out" that I wasn't sure that you could produce with the template. Thanks for clarifying.
@MattMcCool07 ай бұрын
@@denisdion6847 ah, I see. Sorry for the confusion. Sure, I'll send a message to you on Kofi. I've added a frame setting in the lighting tab. Just increase the border width and it'll create a border that fits perfectly on every photo, regardless of aspect ratio. The default produces a white border, but you can decrease the brightness all the way to black, or somewhere in between for a transparent look. And no, the template organizes the photos in a roll so it's already past the state of the cube effect due to the pCustom node. But maybe an idea for a future template similar to this one 🤔

Matt, with the borders around the photos is there anyway to reduce the flickering?
@MattMcCool010 күн бұрын
Hmm, I'm unable to reproduce the flickering. Would you mind sending me a short render on Kofi? I suspect it has more to do with your monitor's refresh rate...maybe the high contrast between the white border and the black background presents an illusion of flickering with the vertical movement? Have you tried rendering the effect out and watching it on your phone or another device?
@GMFinneyPro11 ай бұрын
Thanks for this! Exactly what I was looking for, have purchased and begun to use. I have a question though, I have A LOT of photos, it’s for a feature film end credit sequence so there’s like 250 bts photos. I obviously can’t play it back very smooth to see the full thing but when I rendered, it seems I only have about 1/8th of the amount of photos. Is there a limit? Or do I need to change some settings? Thanks in advance

I just bought it... thats very nice... I would also love, if there would be exactly the same plugin for video because for years I would like to make a video, that showcases how my adhd-brain works and i recognized during your video, at 12:58 where you got all these images in that region... imagine having hundreds of random videos playing at the same time in a constantly moving region like that... similar to an anthill is how it looks like 24/7 in my brain... of course it would also be possible to make that with photos but since photos are still, it doesn't fit to that constant moving chaos that much, than actual videos would do. but its already very nice for my photography videos and maybe for an intro (yes, i still do intros because i like them) 🙂

@MattMcCool02 ай бұрын
Hey there, thanks for downloading! If I'm understanding correctly, your image is coming in sideways and when you rotate it in the folder and reimport, it's still sideways? I've ran into this issue before and I believe it has to do with the way you're rotating the image. For example, on Mac OS in Finder, there is a rotate option. This does not seem to actually rotate the file in it's metadata. It just rotates how Finder sees the file. But if you open that same file in Preview and rotate there, then hit save, then reload into Photo Roll, it should come in rotated. If you're on Windows, try opening the image in the Windows photo app, rotate, hit save, then try reloading. Hope that helps!

There are instances where the original orientation/rotation of the image isn't detected correctly by the generator template. It looks correct on Windows Explorer for example but completely wrong in Da Vinci. Any workaround for this? Tried manually rotating the original file to compensate and I can't seem to get the change to detect.
@MattMcCool02 ай бұрын
When you rotate inside file explorer, it doesn't seem to rotate the image's metadata. It just rotates how window file explorer sees it. Try opening the image in the Windows photo app, rotate, hit save, then try reloading.
