The "captain" new model of the landship could be a hint that Dogs of Wars are actually coming. CA would not bother creating a new model just to put it in a place that barely anybody is ever going to watch. This captain could be some sort of mercenary from another nation. And yes, the Game 1 Red and White Empire textures are rough, very rough.

Literally a recruit who got a good shotgun, but the rest didn't have the budget. So he got his predecessor's pajamas.

Just make it so he does not start with an OP Kayzk straight away and make it so he can work on every pledge and not locked behind Kayzk. In both campaigns you just dump gold into the chaos force opposite of you and you solved the "bad position".

I actually like the Empire tech tree much more than most others. It has these clusters that make it very clear what you're doing. From the top of my head: Top line is unit buffs ordered by type, middle left is economy, middle is campaign buffs, middle right is magic, bottom left diplomacy, bottom middle lord specific, bottom right State Troops. Very organized, very visually clear. You can start at any cluster and focus your research on whatever you want. Gelt might go for magic first, while Franz goes for trade goods and port income and Elspeth tries to gain vision over other Empire factions asap.

I think the age of reckoning system would be way less of a problem if you could choose when to start it, build up to a point where you feel like you could go into one, do it with lets say a 15-20 turn timer and then be given the same option to stop or continue, but the continue option would actually require 20% more grudges not the delay. Perhaps eve be given an extra reward based on how many cycles you were able to do to a certain minimum tier. And after the age ends, you could have a cooldown on doing it again whilst keeping the positive passive effects whilst it is on cooldown, then when you feel comfortable you could start it again.

Nurgle main here with about 2000 hours in WH3. I think nurgle is the closest to best gameplay of the 3 factions. I say that because mechanically I think the faction is perfect and plays very well. But the plagues need a numbers buff. This is by far the easiest change. They need 2 things. Some of the buffs/debuff need another pass over to make them more impactful at a baseline…. Secondly they need a plague intensity slider. Mid/late game you have tons of excess infections. I would love if for the cost of extra infections you could dial up the numbers even higher. I’m talking negative 100 growth, garrison wiping levels of attrition, a battle speed debuff that you actually notice like negative 50 speed for the entire enemy army. I want to feel the impact of these plagues like you can feel the impact of the bloodhosts or the changing of the ways. I know they have the blessed versions and that’s cool but that should just be brought up proportionally. You could even balance intensity by reducing the virility or chance of spreading. All in all by mid/late game nurgle I want to feel like the plagues are acting as separate small armies massively impacting the settlements. I’d even go so far as to say that the positive effects are fine where they are. Just the negative one need a buff. Also Epidemius could be fixed by halving the price of infections to spawn a plague. Both Empire and Dwarves still have gameplay mechanics that feel off. Thats a much harder fix than adjusting numbers.

Another interesting idea to buff plagues would be to ramp up their values depending on nurgle corruption. Nurgle should be given a building similar to vamps that allows them to spread corruption into adjacent provinces. If you manage to corrupt an enemy province high enough the plagues should be devastating. This would both bring some more engagement with corruption in general which is sorely needed for all chaos factions but also allow for a slow methodical form of gameplay where you build up corruption, disseminate plagues to soften up armies and garrisons and then sweep your armies through to mop up and consolidate territory. It would also allow nurgle to fight effectively on multiple fronts where you could be directly engaging the enemy on one side of your territory while significantly hampering and impacting factions elsewhere on the opposite side. This would give nurgle a level of momentum similar to Khorne.

Last thing I’ll say here is that on the whole Total War Warhammer campaign actions aren’t very useful. How many people actually use hero agent actions? Bashing your army into the enemy is always better than giving them negative 25 growth for a couple turns or the dreadful “hinder replenishment “ lmao…. Hence why 99 percent of the time it is better to keep your heros in your army (even if they suck at fighting) because the actions they can perform on the campaign map rarely ever feel worth the time to consider. I’d love to see that change. Plagues fall into the campaign map actions as a whole and could be a testing ground for buffing hero agent actions on the whole to be actually impactful. Probably wishful thinking but it would be great if, in one of the upcoming big updates, CA took the time to go through each races enemy heros and rework their hero actions to be 1) more impactful (number go up) or 2) better yet more unique and thematic than the generic hinder replenishment or block army. I think this would go a long way towards enjoying heros more and would open up a less aggressive style of play where you build tall and pester enemy factions to keep them behind you in building tiers/ecomony, military and/or tech.

As a huge Nurgle fan, glad we agree it being the best DLC hehe. As someone who didnt buy the earlier DLC, first one I ever didnt buy for warhammer and after its released, stopped playing warhammer 3 since then, this DLC did bring me back for Nurgle and I was happy. But yea, pricing is still a issue as a whole.

Are you guys considering doing something about the changes to charges? As far as I can tell, the update has made it so that charges do more damage overall, affecting cavalry as well as units with high charge capabilities. This has affected my Khorne campaign to the point most battles are much easier. (Also it might be that it's always been like this and that I wasn't aware because I am a SFO sinp)

As far as I know, there are no big changes to cavalry, mass etc this patch. It's just the difference between vanilla and SFO, units tend to have less mass and anti-large units aren't as difficult to deal with (halberds are a joke compared to SFO) etc.

I've had a lot of fun with the new DLC and reworks (Nurgle feels the best of the 3 atm, clear winners) but I am 100% pining real hard for that SFO spice that makes the game TRULY unique. Wouldn't dream of rushing the team but know ya'll're missed!

About the Dawi: Their techtree, units, buildings and when to get what is overall very true to the lore as in it's current state before the Endtime bs started to happen and in the alternative that it never did. Even the strength mostly is, as the Dawi actually are the most advanced and strongest faction, and it is their way to make up for their low numbers. The Thunderbarge for example is able to even beat several elder dragons, probably the most dangerous flying being in the lore. IT IS supposed to be OP! However, building a barge, mainting it, etc. is certainly no easy feat, it is costly takes long and requires for example special docks to even land (only found in Middenheim, Praag, Altdorf, Karaz-A-Karak and Karak Kadrin). It is the Dawi way to counter those who've taken over their underground ways and it is much faster and therefore an awesome vessel for trading. So it shouldn't rly be reduced in power, but in upkeep and limited (best by the amount of buildings / owned settlements (by Dawi) / turn number). About Malakai: He is also overal really well done and true to the lore, but he suffers equally to the Nurgle dude from two huge issues. These are first the shape and scale of the campaign maps, many regions, such as Norsca or Araby are so wrongly scaled and/or shaped, that the distances and pathways always cause you to clash with other factions and are constantly being attacked (Chaos), secondly that he needs to travel around the whole Old World, even partially past it, that you need to split massively and are either getting rubbep up or slowed down by trying to be allowed to cross borders.

I would suggest having the Thunderbarge be exclusively an army ability, possibly limited further to only Legendary Lords. I like the idea of powerful units, but the moment I recruited 2 in my Malakai campaign the game just stopped being fun for me. The rest of my army didn't matter, so I couldn't experiment with the artillery runes on the updated Flame Cannons and what's the point of melee infantry when you have the metaphorical hand of god hovering over the enemy army.

I'm really surprised you don't like Dwarfs though I can agree with some things but not at all with some others. - I totally agree that this DLC took a lot from SFO, I thought so from the get go. - I really like the grudge rework as a whole except of the reckoning timer and scaling. Unnecessary feeling of rushing the player to fight people otherwise you are gimping yourself. - Not a fan of lowering bunch of units like Irondrakes or Gyros in tiers and making them weaker. But new units are awesome (be it someone like doomseekers don't feel like proper blenders or just in general suffering from the fact dwarf elite units have just damn too many models in them. Really there is that many Doomseekers and other elites around?). -Finally there is a T5 unit that can be doomstacked if economy is strong enough. I prefer things to be powerful but balanced around the cost. Real issue for it right now is multiplayer but I wouldn't want to see it get nerfed in single player. Maybe demand 2 stages of T5 buildings and higher cost still. - I like dividing the tech tree and some ideas within it but I always enjoyed how massive Dwarf tree was. Just felt proper for the race of master smiths and inventors. - I don't agree that Malakai gets all his power up front. Spirit of Grungi takes good time to build up and completing all mission also will take a good while. Unless you are referring specifically to cannons. Again I am more of a mindset that if you find something broken don't use it but honestly this was like first time ever I felt in Warhammer that artillery is doing something and that's how enemies of dwarfs must feel when facing their gunline. Big thing for grape shot is it seems to target middle of formations and spread along it which is something CA was unable to fucking do for the game and so many ranged units for years. And it's not great against single model entities as it should. I'm torn on that one, because it is quite silly how it tears through formation but I am worried nerfs to it will make it like other ammo switching types aka might as well not exist. -I also don't like such large changes to model entity number of gyros. They feels super squishy and less impactful? 6-8 gyros I could buy but not 12. Similar for the bomber I think I liked it more as single enityt for purpose of bombing but having more entities does make its shooting feel better. Damn bit of a wall to read, sorry about that.

I think that with some changes The Age of reconing mechanic could be good at least fine, but actually disappointing thing in my opinion was that that based dwarf lorgs have been given nothing unlike Karl and Gelt in empire. Right now I see no point in playing any other dwarf outside of Malakai and maybe Thorek.

Perhaps charging off to save Boris would be more of a challenge, but it is true Malakai is damn near invincible and the main challenge of the campaign is keeping the rest of your faction alive 😆

I like the dwarfs and there new units. That it is op was clear from the start. Every new Units/System is at the start op (in the most of the times....). Still Chaos Dwarfs war for me the best faction at the time. They only need more units and lord/heros.

So...a decent DLC but they were lazy on the empire visuals, once again screwed over the dawi and it's still overpriced. I think I will grab some of it to try and poke them in the right direction. I admit it will be the first DLC I've bought for wh3 because the rest has just been such shit outside maybe warriors and chaos dwarfs, which while good cost way too much for what I'm getting in this economic climate. It is abundant clear they screwed up very hard with that hyenas fiasco. So much money, effort and goodwill wasted on a project that never had a snowballs hope in hell.

it should be like the waaggh. mechanic. grudges build up and then when It maxes out. you start an aor. u then get grudges to fill up a meter for rewards.
