Kiss Alive! Is really just a greatest hits album made to sound live. I spin once in a while but I think Alive II is heavier and better. Alive 3 shouldve been right after Asylum. Alive II just has the appropriate ass kicking sound you'd expect from a band like Kiss in 1977-78. ●After the solos, in my opinion they're just Paul Stanley albums. In fact I prefer Dynasty, Unmasked and the Elder split as solo albums between Gene, Paul and Ace. Ace's songs from those 3 records could be another solo album entirely: 1. Rocket Ride 2. Talk To Me 3. 2000 Man 4. Hard Times 5. Two Sides Of The Coin 6. Torpedo Girl 7. Save Your Love 8. Dark Light

I love the first 3 albums. Destroyer is really good and I know many look at as the masterpiece, but I’d take the first three albums and Rock and Roll Over over Destroyer any day. Love Gun is good too, but I put that in the same bracket with Destroyer. After Love Gun, it became a corporation more than a band. Still some good material, but they lost that hungry “team” thing they had.

You gotta admit it. When everything was KISS: lunch boxes, dolls, trading cards, transistor radios, the KISS van, belt buckles, trash cans, the movie, etc, it was absolute overkill. Is all that shit really worth anything? Only if there's a demand for it. If nobody wants it, it's just a pile of stuff sitting in a pile. If you ask me, one day nobody will care for KISS related paraphernalia (and it will happen) and just a pile of money wasted. I do love KISS. But the entire commercialism of the band truly sunk them. To me, Alive 2 absolutely sucked. There was no Gene solo with the blood, no solo from Ace, and Peter DID NOT perform a drum solo during God Of Thunder. Why? They were removed so we get side 4 with studio songs. WTF?!?? Studio songs belong on albums meant to be studio records. Alive 2 would have been far better with live music as was it was on Alive!
@jamesdean35484 ай бұрын
@@stanlee-eq7lu I have to disagree with a couple points. Alive 2 has the best Ace solo ever in Shock Me, and who wants a 10 minute drum solo? It was edited perfectly in God of Thunder to keep the momentum. Alive! was heavily overdubbed, so you can’t really complain about Alive 2 studio tracks on side 4.

Ace said him and Peter never got invitations. Bruce said the same thing. Gene and Paul said they sent them invitations. They are a bunch of nobodies that only became rich and famous because of their stage shows, plain and simple.

Ralph is right, Kiss really was 1974- 1977 / 1996-2001. everything else was filler. I was born in '69, so my real first dealings with Kiss was just before Kiss meets the Phantom movie, My dad brought home a mag called Grooves presents Kiss volume1 # 7, which on the cover is the guys standing on the yellow boxes. That was my KISS bible for years and the Make up KIss was my LIfe! That was 1978, so I had some catching up to do! By the time 1980 rolled around, I had a number of the KIss records by then ( book and mags too), but Dynasty was my first "new" record. I thought at the time (and age) it was cool - just because it was KIss! But by the time I got into jr high, I had moved on to the current rock, Boston, Aldo Nova, Billy Squire, The Cars and who else was popular in the early 80's. I was always a fan of KIss (in make up) and often vocal about it (which as we all know didn't make any friends from it) But I did buy Kiss records outta respect in the 80's, but really had moved on to "hair metal" and the other current rock of the mid to late 80's. Loved the reunion, must have seen them 6 times, 1 psycho circus and 5 or 6 on the Farewell. I followed from a distance the rest of the way until the end.

If Paul and Gene were so smart and cared about people they would have sent Ace and Peter to rehab in 78 instead of all the bullshit of the solo albums and the phantom of the park disaster, but they just chased the almighty dollar $$$$
@HappyMachorino-bd8no4 ай бұрын
But Bill Aucoin tried to help Peter. He sent him probably to rehab. And he sent him to drumming lessons. In a Q&A talk Bill even mentioned paranoia. And "Everytime Peter STARTED to fight, they fought back". And Paul definitely helped Peter. He gave him "Black Diamond", "Mainline" etc. And Ace? Don't fool yourself. He didn't even listen to his daughter who begged him to stop🥃+💉.

I checked out after Alive II. Can't even remember why! I think the shine wore off and I got tired of them. Just moved on to bands like ELO and I dug Blue Oyster Cult and a few others. I remember KISS was too big for the city I grew up in after the Destroyer album came out. Our War Memorial Auditorium wasn't big enough for their production. They came back around January of 82' I believe. One guy from my class (in High School) went to the show. They had to curtain off the 10,000 seat arena. Small crowd of maybe 2 to 3,000 people showed up in January in upstate NY. He enjoyed the show. They were billing themselves as "The Loudest Band In The World." Whatever!
