alnico v vs wilkinson Pickups (strat)

This video is comparison strat pickups between Alnico V & Wilkinson (alnico V) . I believe this Wilkinson made in Korea & the Alnico V made in China. Please let me know what do you think in comment section. Thank you.

I think the Alnico V had a more brighter tone, where the Wilkinson had a much warmer feel. Obviously, ones not better than the other as everyone has preferences, but I think I gotta go with the Alnico. Both sound nice, great video!

After this demo and some other I ordered this pickguard at Amazon. Incredible upgrade for my Strat. Deep, ballsy very SRV in slight overdrive. I love them. I put them in my guitar and the only thing I changed was the wire to the output jack; I made it with HQ shielded cable. And I put a treble bleed (Kinmann style) in it. Great value for the price. I will order a second one for my second strat loaded with the Alemo Blues pups. these are a ten time cheaper and sound a ten time better. Lucky for me the are not "Vintage Staggered". Why everyone wants "vintage staggered" is for me a big question. Absolutely useless and disturbing the string balance.

Both are nice pickup sets. The alnico v pickups are sweeter and have a more vintage tone. I have a few strats fitted with the alnico v pickups, including a starcaster strat on which the tone is improved so much. I have both ceramic wilkos (Artist strat) and alnico wilkos (Squier Affinity) and they both sound great, the alnicos edging it. If you're on a budget you can't go wrong with either.

Agree with general consensus that these particular alnico pups were brighter, and to my ear, more conventionally ‘Strat-like’. Having said that, I thought the general tone profile (if there’s such a thing) was very similar. Wouldn’t be surprised if some tone knob manipulation on amp and/or guitar could make them sound close enough to not make any difference. Truth is, they both sound like Stratocaster pups, IMO.

Wilk'a have a little more middle and chime the A5 sounds more vintage Strat transparent tone. I like them both actually.. But the A5 are like $20.00 for a set Wilkinson are $75.00 for a set. Just got a best offer for $19.00 for the Chines V's guess I'll take a chance.

The Alnico V (yes, that's the brand name), are hotter than the Wilkinson's (which are ceramic magnets). Once you account for that, the comparison seems pretty even, although I think that with pedals and different amp settings the Wilkinson's would be better as they sounded less muddy to me. Both are decent Asian made p/u's that can be purchased fairly cheap and will get your Strat sounding Stratty? Lol.

Wilkinson sounds lifeless to me no real distinguish eq frequencies between the different positions where as the alnico v sounds "positionally" different as well as "tonally" different thru each different position. . . . hope that makes sense. Also this is all just how and what OUR individual ears hear.

ALNco- V - sharp, defined, compressed tones, crystal clarity.Vintage fender tone. Wilkinson - More open, Deeper tones , more harmonic, more pronounced medium, less clarity. That’s what I hear, and the decision is definitely yours.
