A kumu who was ahead of his time. Simply perfection to the fullest...

Ahead of his time! No one does it like this anymore. A few come close but not quite like this. That floor choreography, formations, the hula! One of a kind!

I was 12 in '84 and remember watching this. After all these years it's still one of my all time favorite performances. I'm curious who was 1st because this was a 1st place win to me. It's still beautiful and exciting to watch. He was a genius!

Wow!!!! Beautiful! The choreography is wonderful and stays true to the story told..Also, the one training these dancers must be so good, as all these men and women worked so hard to be so very good at what they've done here. Thank you, aloharyoji, for making sure we get to see these events from the '80's...So exciting then...Putting a "show" on display for the crowds is one thing (today) but representing and showing the spirit of the Islands--is something else; that's certainly been done here.

Manu `o `o! Uncle Johnny wrote this mele off da hook. Kumu Darrell is unbelievable. Kumu Mark choreographed a phenomenal hula to this one, too.

Second place? Who won first? Their performance must have been out of this world because this is hard to beat.
