The Wooded Beardsman So I bought the season today and caught up. I think hands down that one girl with the teki lounge has the best shelter skills I've ever seen. (I'll go back and catch her name and do an edit later.) The dry waller won't make it much longer I think. Britt and Fowler look good. I'm impressed with Megan being so tough. Her boot got stuck and she didn't even whine. The women Alone finds are amazing!

I wonder if Callie taps suddenly, that's the problem with emotions, you never know when someone is done. Highs and lows. She strikes me that way. I think you might be right about Greg, not sure. Britt us doing really well and is surprising me. Fowler has a lot to go, he's still heavy! I still like Dan for the win. He admitted he was lazy, I like that.

My inspiration. Fowler has inspired me as a man, as a survivalist and most importantly as believing in a power greater then myself. Amazing human being. I would love to spend 7 days in Maine with him for sure.

Am I the only one that is going to point this out? He looks easily 50lbs over his normal weight (there are videos of him before this season and after this season, and this man is never this FAT). I think he did what most people don't think to do to win this contest....put on as much extra fat as possible before the competition starts.

I wonder, when casting for Alone, does everybody send in a video casting tape? Or do they send a regular email just telling about themselves and survival expertise?

All reality shows require a video application. They need to know what you look and sound like.

It might be a survival show, but you've still got to be marketable. I imagine they also look for demographic boxes to tick somehow, as some kind of holdover from older reality tv shows.

As I understand it, they want to see how you handle self videoing, cause they need people who will diligently record their experience, not to mention that they want the viewers to enjoy the journey, so they want contestants that can work well with telling the audience what is going on. Call it the Les Stroud style. If they are boring and camera lazy, doesn't make for good tv....

Callie North with her bush craft sweat pants will outlast this dude. This dude didn't bring extra rations. Decides to build a guardrail and clear a path with his cool Cold Steel shovel early in the game. Climbs a hill or something to feel sunshine... then literally cries about it. Has a hot wife and young kids. Tap city.

Never underestimate those that are passionate, looking beyond oneself is true strength. Larry in season 2 with all his drama did very well, if he was more successful in getting food he would of won. Fowler is very competent in securing food. Will see how it plays out. A far as extra rations, I would not take any - what is the point if you are in it to win and are planning to spend many months out there. Extra rations only gives one a few extra days I see no point in taking any rations. I am about 30 pounds over ideal BMI, so that would give me the equivalent of 6 food rations..

ReligiousShooter Spatial is on the right track. Fowler is a heavy weight, he doesn't need extra rations. Despite doing some foolish things, I agree building a walking path is pretty wasteful, if anyone ,he has the pounds to waste. Personally, I would bring extra rations though!

He sure did. Didn't know he was going to make a wizard staff. That gave him a +2 survival rating. He is hard as f. I should have seen how hard he was when he left his family on the side of road. He kept his eyes on the prize. Cold Steel shovel beats Bush Craft Sweat Pants.

He had the worst site by far, only lost 20 pounds. Building items and changing the environment around us like building a ramp into the lake is what separates man from animals. The difference between survival and thriving is terraforming. Sitting under a tree all day hoping to outlast others is no longer a winning strategy.
