I'm sorry but, as someone living in north of the polar circle and seen yearly temps below -35 to -40 there is no way to use mud, plastics etc. There is nothing bending at those temps and you wont be sipping coffee barehanded.

I did enjoy watching how he built everything, even though there are some basic safety issues. Is no one going to question that he’s doing this at “-36 degrees”? 1, Is he dressed for -36°? 2, Why isn’t the ground frozen solid as rock? Then I thought “maybe at -36° latitude”. There is no way it’s -36°F or C (actually only 1-2° difference either way).
@MrTmxas
@MrTmxas Жыл бұрын
It's not minus 36 for sure. When it's minus 10 or more the snow acts much different and everything else. He has no gloves at -36😄 Few minutes and his fingers would be dead if it was -36. It was around minus 1 or -2 i guess. And he didn't live there. Everything else was quite interesting.

because the ground under the snow will not freeze. even -50 degrees. I'm working and I'm very warm. That's why I didn't dress like a cabbage.

I'm sure it got to -36 at some point in this video, but you certainly didn't shovel dirt, let alone mud, at -36. You also didn't cut and split freshly hewn timber/trees. At that temperature the moisture in the wood would not just freeze solid but give the wood fiber the consistency of stone. So. Cool video anyway.

There's always something intriguing about watching bushcraft videos for me. I enjoy camping and it is the primary reason as to why I joined Boy Scouts, so that I could camp. Alas, we only ever did tent camping, but I do recall one night at summer camp when doing my Wilderness Survival merit badge that we had to sleep outside with no tent, only afforded with a single tarp for each person, some twine, and our sleeping bags of course. I didn't have my own tarp, so I grabbed a random tarp out of the troop trailer, which turned out to be the best decision I made. The tarp was absolutely massive! If you laid it out flat, you could fit like 9 fully grown men on it, laying all in the same direction, which when some other kids saw it, minds immediately went to building a tipi. However, we couldn't quite lash the tripod correctly, and it always fell back down on us. The plan initially was to build the tipi and my tarp was to fully enclose it, and then everyone else would put their tarps underneath it and we would all sleep proud of the shelter we built. But of course, nothing ever goes right. It began to rain. Hard. As a result we all ditched the tipi and tried to quickly assemble shelters for our own. Due to the size of my tarp, I quite simply folded it in half to cocoon myself and put twine between the holes to tie it together, but it didn't stop the rain from coming in. When morning came, everyone was quite miserable, as their sleeping bags had been mostly soaked through. If I could change one thing about that night, I would remember my lashings so I could build that tipi and we wouldn't be as miserable that night. Well that rant got out of hand. Anywho I would love to, given the opportunity, go out with some friends and build a shelter like this and spend a couple nights in it. Just to say we did.

I would love to be able to go into the woods and created a home from what's found in my surroundings but I'm afraid my back injuries won't let me.
