I flew my first 744 on United from San Fran to Incheon. It was my first 12+ hour flight and it was quite enjoyable. The 744 for being a bit older now still has its charm. On our return leg our plane had mechanical issues but it netted me an extra night in Korea at a fancy hotel with an amazing view. I have some warm memories from my 10 days in South Korea. Can't wait to visit again!

Greetings from South Korea! That might be Asiana Airlines' old B744 which is only two left (age is 24years, 20years). The planes will be changed to A350-900. Asiana Airlines doesn't actually operate first class in Taipei to Incheon Route. So Sam has been given the business class meals so that's why it is a one-tray dish.

My dad actually once booked an Asiana Business Class for me and my family (4 people in my family to be exact,) but then ALL the business class seats got filled, and they just realized that, so they upgraded us to first class. I loved it and I *do* recommend it. Edit: BUT my plane had a door which you could close, and I slept with my mom.

You were luckily! HL7418(age almost 25 years) is now gone. Her last flight is on Setember 30, 2019. Only HL7428 is now flying now. Other aircraft is now gone or remodeling cargo plane by BDSF. Also, Korean air B747-400(PAX)will leave on November 18, ICN(RKSI)-DPS, DPS-ICN(RKSI). There's no more 747-400(PAX) schedule after November 19, 2019.

Another great video Sam. 747 has always been my favorite. I recall being 1 of 18 total passengers on a flight from LAX to DTW before deregulation in the USA. I amassed over 200k miles flying before I was 12 years old. All my best to you my fellow traveler.

Asiana B747-400 First class is changed 'Royal business class', which mean seat: old first class, service: business class And A380-800 first class will be also change to business class but seats are still first class, lounge is also first class lounge, too.

I have always loved the upper deck of the 747. Climbing the stairs you felt like you were one of only 24 or so passengers instead of 400. You might glimpse the flight deck when the crew or flight attendants went in or out. The high vantage point when on the ground. And the extra storage for window seat lovers like myself. The exclusivity makes the upper deck experience on a 747 unique and unbeatable.

They operate the first class only in A380. The seat sam seated is old first class seat, They named it "royal business". If you have a business ticket in Asiana's B747 and pay additional 100$, you can use the royal business

The last 747 Ive been on is Cathay Pacific from HK to Cebu. I love how the 747 is so big and sturdy. Planes nowadays are thin and light to be more fuel efficient. the 747 is pure bliss

Sam, I always enjoy your reviews. Myself, I fly usually 4-6 long-hauls a year and Upper Deck 747 has always been my favorite, only 28-30 seats, and the side bin is one of my reasons too. In July -2016 I flew one of United's last 747s from Newark to Hong Kong. The flight was exceptional because the route went NNE (Typically it goes NW over and above Barrow, Alaska) up over the Canadian Maritimes, Greenland and virtually over the North Pole, then down thru Siberia, Mongolia, China and finally Hong Kong. My first trans-Pacific flight was also on a United 747, upper deck, in July-1999. I was spoiled from the beginning. I also noticed the Evergreen hangers which have an important link to the 747's history. About 20yrs ago, my wife and myself were going on our first trip to New Zealand, travelling DUB/MAN/KUL/AKL. Out of Manchester on a Malaysian 747, we had the complete 1st class compartment to ourselves. It was wonderful, a totally private 747. We were spoiled, because, when we took the next leg from KUL to AKL, there were six other people in the cabin, it felt crowded !!

Super light load to rotate in 20 seconds! Have to say that B747 in the nose is the most wonderful environment I’ve ever experienced. Spacious F cabin and because of the sharp curving towards the nose, the windows almost give a forward view along with numerous windows one can see through. No other aircraft cabin matches it.

Always loved flying on 747 many times with Lufthansa, NWA, KLM, Air Mauritius Thai, United, Singapore, Cathay and it’s always the greatest aircraft to experience on a long haul flights. My Flight from BKK to LAX via. Kansai was the most amazing. Even I loved flying with MD11, even that Aircraft too was the most memorable. Flew many times from BOM to ZRH & BOM to AMS.

My selection on seating if given the choice, would be to sit in the upper deck. As a former Flight Attendant, I think of Safety and there is a better margin sitting upstairs vs main deck in the nose.
