Must have been a long time ago, they were there when I lived that way in 2001. TBH, I don't think it's a bad thing, Lands End is not very picturesque and without the attractions there's really not much to do apart from a photo op by the sign. Better that the local economy is supported rather than just blighted by heavy traffic in the summer months...
@gailhickman743 Жыл бұрын
@@tuvaaq It certainly was a long time ago, about 1980/81 I think, lol.

Sounds about right, I think the family owners sold the land in '82 to a millionaire for about £3 mill who then flipped it a few years later to another property developer for £7 million. Now it's owned by a company that also owns John O Groats and runs the Snowdon Mountain railway & cafe.

@101Waylander Жыл бұрын
Once the area was bought out the whole area changed. There used to be a nice pup with live music, and it was free parking. Once they changed everything they added attractions and charged a small fortune to go in. You had no choice as they didn’t separate the price for those who just wanted to park and walk around. So many cars did what we did and just told them to stuff it and turned around and left. They soon separated the charge for parking from the attractions. But now they charge a lot for the attractions and have bumped up the parking charge beyond reasonable. Greed is out of control. My wife and I are going to be in Cornwall in September, staying in Mullion. We usually pop in to Lands End, but at those prices we will probably give it a miss. I will be taking my telescope to get some great views of the planets at night. Thank you for the video.

Love that you did this video Stephen. I went on hol last year to Sennen which is 10 minute stroll along the cliff past that 1st Last house. Theres a rusting ship wreck to see half way between. We stay at the holiday cottages right at the top on the lands end path called Longships watch. Lands end comes alive in the evening during july and August twice a week with live music and epic fireworks display with soundshow played out over loudspeakers saying the ztory of the giants that formed cornwall and st Michaels mount. Its amazing and the crowds gather on the cliff there watching it. Sennen is amazing for body boarding. Hope you hD. Look there on your travels. It was so good were going again this Aug. I did many walks across the those cliffs past that 1st last house in the dark to the bar in the hotel which was our nearest one.

Wasn't sure if you were gonna make us all jump out our skins at some point with some scary surprise! Strange you didn't get collared by security in some form. A bit Blair Witch, this one. Hope the cows didn't get you on the way back! Loved the sounds of the sea and the breathtakingly beautiful photography: bangin'.
