Nice! If I could offer a piece of dad advice. Leave the phone on only for emergencies. You don’t have to use it, you don’t have to look at it. turn the ringer off. But for security and quicker access when seconds count and your mind is elsewhere. Other than that, awesome video!

@arturoharvey97333 жыл бұрын
@Baba Ganush That's much like the question, "How did people survive with prescription medication for so long?" The answer is many of them just died sooner than they would otherwise. Now phones aren't as lifesaving as medication of course, but in some situations they can be critical. Imagine she was bitten by a poisonous snake or gravely injured herself somehow, seconds spent waiting on her phone to power on and find service could be the difference between life or death. And what if she powered on her phone only to realize she doesn't have service in that particular area, more time wasted. Not to mention she could miss important events, like the death of a family member, which she might not have if people had a means to contact her. I say all that to say keeping your phone on when you're alone and in a remote environment is great advice.
@arturoharvey97333 жыл бұрын
@Baba Ganush What I meant is that a relative could be on critical condition and the hours or days she spent went her phone off could mean missing the chance to see or speak with them before they pass. My main point is that the convenience of being completely unreachable doesn't outway the potential cost in the case of an emergency.

This video literally brought tears to my eyes. There’s something about the vulnerability in the woods, the noisy silence it makes, and the intense satisfaction that its simplicity brings. Where we camp is fairly ‘simple’ and has no running water, or power, or cell service. Being able to unplug is so important to us. Fantastic video as always!

Linnea, have you ever tried a pressure cooker? You can still get the old-style stovetop ones. They're really efficient for cooking down beans, etc., very quickly, which saves fuel. Nice job! A suggestion, if you don’t mind, you could de-limb much of that stuff you cut down and use the fatter wood pieces to lay into the muck. It will decompose and create loam in that area eventually so it won’t be so muddy. And until it does, the muck will be more easily traversed for getting in & out of the water. Nice platform too!!

I absolutely loved this video. So relaxing. You are not afraid, and you can really take care of yourself. We use to take our kids camping alot. Sometimes for a couple weeks at a time,. We had tents, iron pots, iron skirts. We camped close to a creek. Swim there, washed our dishes there, washed our clothes there. We had clothes lines strung between two big trees. My husband made a big chair with a hole in the seat out of wood. He dug a hole and the chair over it. Every time we used it he would cover it with dirt. We cooked our food on an open fire. At night we had a bond fire, all would sit around it and tell stories. We loved it. My kids are all grown up now. Had 5 , 3 girls and 2 boys. My boys have passed away, so has my husband. I'm 79 years old. My oldest daughter is living with me taking care of me. I'm on a walker but I'm in good health. Do alot with your kids when they are young. I have so many pictures and sweet memories❤. Oh I have 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

This video came up as a random offering and I appreciated SO MUCH about it. It was natural,beautiful,peaceful,calm, and genuine. I love seeing other people enjoying nature and how healing just being quietly in nature can be. Healing for mind and body. I would like to bring up 3 things from the perspective of an environmentalist that someone as caring as you will want to know. First, creeks need as much shade canopy as they can get- it helps the water stay cooler,lose less water from dehydration from the heat of the sun, and the fish are happier and healthier that way. We found this out from observing and studying clearcutting practices. Clearcuts that went down to the creek line dried the creeks up faster and led to a massive decline of fish, including crucial indicator species. Second, the lumber that you used had a green tinge that showed it was treated with chemicals. I do hope that you moved them away from the creek bed after you enjoyed using them as a deck. When the water rises in the creek during winter, or if they were left at a a shoreline that was wet, they will leach toxic chemicals which are terrible for fish, frogs, water bugs, and the water itself. Thirdly, the trees that you cleared for a spot for your chair and the view seemed to be left as a pile in the woods. This on first look seems innocent enough, but when piles of wood are unnaturally left on the forest floor to dry, they become tinder and add to fire danger. Sometimes natural forest fires are actually a good thing and help keep the balance in a wild forest, but in a natural forest there are not usually humanmade piles of wood left about, so when fires come through they burn much hotter and cause much more damage, sending the fire up into the trees instead of just burning the forest floor which regenerates. Anyway, I truly hope that you will not take this as criticism or negativity, but simply as sharing things that you may not have been aware of. Thank you for this beautiful video, I look forward to watching more.
