2014 - My first time visiting the Himalayas.
At the time I was really driven to become the youngest to solo Ama Dablam 6812m and set a new record.
looking back at it now I'm surprised that this was a huge motivation for me but I also came to the realization that these things change.
Nowadays I'm driven by my curiosity - to learn what awaits me up somewhere where nobody has ever been and to get to know what I'm capable of as an Alpinist, as a human being.
I filmed everything with a single Gopro back then.

That looked like some insanely bad conditions for soloing without a rope. The snow was so soft in places I literally held my breath for you. To be honest, I think you're nutso.

Very impressive! Great video too! Protip though: Don't pour boiling water into a flimsy bag while holding it. Put that biz on the ground to fill up. If you miss or the bag folds, you're now on a ledge at 5000m with a burnt hand...

SYNAPSE ON ah i always thought boiling is boiling no mater what the temperature point is, boiling point on Everest is 69C so a egg would cook faster there then here on sea level.

hey - If you pay attention you will never see the very top of my helmet: I build a rotation tool that is fixed on the top of the helmet- I give it a swing and the it rotates around me.The camera is pointing to me and on the other side there is a counter weight to achieve the balance you need- if you have a look again you'll see a shadow;)

Hey Swapnil:) since I soloed there was nobody with me on the summit, so I used a self-build tool, if you have a close look you will see the shadow of a pole which is fixed on my helmet. On one end there is the camera on the other is a counterweight. You never see the very top of the helmet;)

But the sounds of the mountain, the tools digging into the ice, and the sound of the climbers is even to a fault SUFFICIENT to my full enjoyment. WHY OH LORD WHY do i have to compete with the jarring soundtrack garbage to hear the sounds of nature and the climb. DOES EVERYTHING have to be a gd production?? The same goes for every sport, Go Pro surfing, skating snowboarding thing just everything in life has to sound like the Discovery Channel---muted, along with just about everything else forever on my TV and YT viewing. In closing, NO i never got to enjoy the sounds of you and your climing tools doing their thing.

As I was the first person to summit that season - those ropes all pretty old (minimum from the season the year before) and quickly damaged by high altitude UV radiation - they are unreliable and therefore unsafe - on the way down I used a few of them in the grey tower to rappel, in an attempt to speed up the descent in the steep mixed section in the dark. One of them broke, I took a fall and almost died... its not a good idea to make use of these old ropes 😅

Incredible. Absolutely unbelievable. How the legs of you mountaineers can be so strong escapes me. Just going up to Namche Bazaar was miserable for me. Congratulations!

Good job on your achievement! 👍 However, I would recommend to ascend with a partner or a nepalese climbing guide for your own safety. The mountains in the Himalayas can be dangerous and unpredictable.

Woow! fantastic! I agree with this being one of the handful of most beautiful mountains in the world. I had the chance to look at it for a few days. How did you do that round shooting on the summit? did you have some kind of drone? Greetings and congratulations from Argentina (you should come to Cerro Torre and Fitz Roy)

I am climbing Ama Dablam in the end of April. We aren't using the fixed ropes so this is nice to see some of the actual climbing we will be doing. What would you say the ice and rock grades are?
