Alone on Dartmoor with a (Spotted) Dick!

Hello lovely people!!!

Right, back to the camp. I loved this camp beyond words...... I honestly think this has been my favourite pitch to date! The views looking up the Tavy Cleave were one thing but being able to look South towards Great Mis Tor and North towards Great Links Tor was just so incredible, let alone the views West out across Devon and towards Cornwall - just WOW!!!!!
The only thing missing was the sunrise in the morning but hey, you can't have it all and I am sure one day I will get that sun rising over the Tavy Cleave!
It was so good to be back in my beloved Tylda the Pleasuredome - I swear it's the best tent there ever was lol! it has been such a long time since I've camped in her it just felt right - literally like a home from home!
I really hope you enjoyed coming with me - apologies I talked so much on this one, it's been a while since I've done a camp with so much talking so I will try to reduce it on the next one lol!

Floof! Woww what a pitch Agent Fanny 😍 Have you tried waterproof socks? I've been using them for a few months now with a thin merino sock underneath and not had wet feet since, even after walking up streams and hours of bogginess in rain, total game changer! I chuck some powder in with them too but not had any issues I'm soo ready for summer now too. I wonder what the weather gods have in store for us for our trip Nice bit 'o clag up there! Linda and I visited Ger Tor on our way back from camping on Hare Tor (which has plenty of space to pitch on the north side of it) and we said it would be good to park there where we could watch over the Cleave. Love your commitment to commentary…getting some big breaths in at the start there, between commentaries to camera🥴. ‘Karen on the bog’ intro was a little slice of the realities of walking in the wild 🙄. Latte stout sounds awesome. Keep up the British end agent Fanny 🇬🇧🫡. Please remind the subscribers that long-term storage of things in ‘stuff-sacks’ should be done by uncompressing the item & where space permits, unpacking and hanging out to air-off occasionally- otherwise stuff doesn’t plump-up after being left compressed for a long time / habitually compressed. My 1990’s British army ‘Arctic’ sleeping bag is still in great shape because it gets stored properly. “Look after your kit & it’ll look after you”. It’s still 23deg overnight on the Gold Coast so we haven’t been able to try out my wife’s Xmas pressie Onewind top quilt 😓🥵

Mentioning my channel and then holding up a can with 'Heathen' written on it...anyone but me would think that was planned... You do realise 'Spotted Dick' is traditionally eaten as part of the roast with thick gravy on it down here? Try it, you'll never eat it as a pudding again. Whilst the Cleave has been reopened as a wild-camping place again, you do realise that it has been removed from the wild-swimming map? I haven't finished printing up the 'wild-swimming map' yet but when I do it'll encompass the whole of Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor and large parts of the entire west country, except the seaside (which I rarely visit) On a serious note, the Cleave isn't too hard aside from a 100m easy scramble towards the end. Thom is one person I could easily camp with, we could talk 'history' until the wee hours.
