You did not cheat when you lit your fire. You used what you had to use to get a fire going in really challenging conditions.I was realy impressed with the organised way you had your gear packed in a military organised way.It shows how preparation is the key to servival.Much respect to you from a 65 year old woods man.

I love watching people camp in the rain and snow. The sound of the rain has always been very relaxing to me, ever since I was a kid staying at my gradmom's house. Her farmhouse had a tin roof and the sound of the rain on the roof would put me to sleep. So your videos that are filmed in the rain or soft sounds of snow are very relaxing and I enjoy watching them so much.

New subscriber here - appreciate the content! Found your channel because of the dog :-) And was so inspired after watching halfway through this video that I took my own dog on a hike despite the on-and-off ice rain we're blessed with today in the mountains of North Portugal. Mine is an Estrela Mountain Dog, absolutely unfazed by bad weather, so she sure appreciated getting a hike in today.

I just had to pause this well shot show it all , efficiently executed. I am blessed 🙌 in the biggest and best county in Ireland 🇮🇪. I'd take a breather and chill with my hound, if I had to choose to stop ✋ in a place just like that. I'd stroll on , but you still gotta shoot another 28 minutes of video for me to watch. Comb that dog 🐕 regularly. Check for thorns and ticks. My 13yr old puppy got whacked and died, Jan 10 2020 . black labrador . I got him at 4 months old. I set the direction. He found the best path. I learned quite a lot from that poor old soul. This is the first time I've seen a video of yours. Very good 👍

Hardcore, Great skills, gave you only 50% chance for a fire that would last, good job. That is survival training at a intense level, not bush crafting. Bush crafter would have had a enough sense to stay home next to a warm fire and a big pot of chili ! Hardcore and solid but a bit crazy. Mucho respect.

Thank you for posting this excellent video. IMHO, the ability to make a fire is the single most important thing in any effort to survive. Hypothermia will kill faster than thirst. I always carry at least three ways of starting a fire, plus some fatwood, plus a 30-minute road flare. It can be cut into smaller pieces and will ignite with a few sparks from a ferro-cerium rod. When you absolutely must have a fire immediately and your hands are shaking, even a Bic lighter may be impossible to operate. Road flare is easy even when your hands are shaking. In 30 minutes, it will even dry out a bit of kindling. So, I applaud your use of fire-gel. Again, thanks for this video.😎
